The Enchantress of Avalon’s Top 5 Tips for Connecting with the Queens of the Dead

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings.    Today’s post is going to entail my sharing some of my favorite tips for connecting with the Queens of Death this Dark Half of the Year.

Tip 1: APPLES & POMEGRANATES

~So the first and simplest tip to creating a connection to the Queens of the Dead is to eat the fruits of the Dead.    Apples are fruits of immortality, knowledge, fertility, and the Dead.   Avalon herself, Holy Isle ruled by Morgan le Fay and the resting place of King Arthur, is named for the Apple!   Pomegranates are the fruit that Persephone ate when she became bound to the Underworld, but they are also fruits of fertility.   In fact, the fruits are in some ways linked, given they are often associated with the same deities and the French word for Apple is Pomme, plus another common name for Pomegranate is a Chinese Apple!   Eating, giving them as offerings, using them in beauty treatments, and burning candles scented with the fruits are great ways to utilize them to connect to the Queens of the Underworld!

Tip 2: DIVINATION, TAROT AND SCRYING

~A great way to connect to all sorts of deities is the use of divinatory techniques.   Many magickal practitioners swear by using Tarot or Oracle readings to do deity confirmation when they are uncertain of the identity of the deity contacting them.   Using certain spreads, calling on the Goddess you are seeking to work with, and asking questions about her story, are all excellent ways to use Tarot and Oracle to connect with Goddesses of the Underworld.    Scrying is the other form of divination that I recommend for connecting with Queens of Death.    I prefer to use Obsidian Mirror Scrying to enter the Otherworld or the Underworld.   I always find myself astral projecting (or hedge crossing) into Avalon when I Mirror Scry!

Tip 3: MEDITATION TO THE UNDERWORLD

~This tip is a bit of a continuation of the last one, specifically the idea of using Mirror Scrying.   Meditation to go into the Underworld is an excellent way to visit the Queens of the Dead and receive the knowledge from Her, which she wishes to bestow upon us.   You can do this by drinking some psychic tea, I recommend Blue Lotus tea for a good meditation trip into the Underworld.   Another way is to use a pre-recorded guided meditation to meet an Underworld Queen!

Tip 4: FINDING STILLNESS

~My fourth tip is quite obvious for those who understand the process of magick.   After any sort of big magickal working, it is important to take the time to find stillness and quiet contemplation while awaiting the results of the working.   This can be as simple as getting cozy, listening to your favorite music, watching your favorite film or television show, burning your favorite candle, and cuddling with your significant other.   Really, finding stillness can be anything that makes you feel centered and at one in your own skin!   It can be done as a solo event, or with loved ones, anything goes, as long as you are being still and allowing yourself to rest!

Tip 5: ARCHETYPES

~My final tip is to study archetypes in order to better understand the Queen of the Underworld and connect to her through her story.    Reading the works of Jean Shinoda Bolen is a good starting point, but I also highly recommend the book Persephone Rising: Awakening the Heroine Withinby Carol S. Pearson in order to deepen into the Persephone archetype.    However, reading anything about the Queen, Mystic, and Lover archetypes (which all can be present in an Underworld Queen archetype) will help you better understand the Goddesses of Death!   For Morgan le Fay, my Matron Goddess and a Queen of the Dead in her own right, there are not necessarily books about her archetype, but you can easily read up on her appearances in the Arthurian legends to get to understand her better, and even form an opinion of which archetypes are present in her energy!    If you are having a difficult time determining what archetypes to hone in on to connect to Morgana, I have written several posts on archetypes from a Celtic perspective, several of which are present in Morgan le Fay, and I will link them at the bottom of this post!
