The Faery Enchantress Archetype

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings!   Today’s post is going to focus on what I call the Faery Enchantress Archetype.    This is very much in line with the Alchemical Goddess, Aphrodite Archetype in Jean Shinoda Bolen’s Goddesses in Every Woman book, but it is also more than that!    In many ways, this is a wilder and Celtic Faery version of this Alchemical Goddess Archetype.   I mentioned this archetype in my birthday post on witchy archetypes that I embody, along with two others I have previously written full posts on.    That is part of what inspired me to write this post.

Firstly I will begin by discussing why I call myself an Enchantress, as I go by the title Enchantress of Avalon.    I chose the term Enchantress because it is a more Faery and free-spirited term that is related to Witch and Sorceress.    While I also use and relate to those terms, the term Enchantress is the main one I use as a moniker because it suits my practice very well.    I call myself an Enchantress because it is a magickal and Faery-related term that exemplifies the way that I live my spiritual life.

There is complexity in the Faery Enchantress Archetype, as she is both the fun-loving free-spirited wild child and also the empowered magician who is someone that you would not want to cross.   Her energy is both light-hearted and deeply felt.   The Faery Enchantress Archetype is very integrated within several types of magickal practices.    Obviously, she is deeply engrained within Faery Magick, but also Shadow Magick, in that all Faery Magick is a bit shadowy.    Faery Realms are by their very nature misty and shadowy Otherworlds, so communion with the Fae and with Faery Realms can very easily help us to tap into our own Shadows, at least that is my belief.    The Faery Enchantress Archetype is also very associated with Mirror Magick, Seership, Oracular Magick, and even Sex Magick.

In being connected to the Faery Realms, she is also connected to the Sensuality and Sexuality of those realms.   She is a deep proponent of Sacred Sexuality and can even help heal wounds surrounding our own sexualities!   She is the archetype of walking that line between the world of the Unknown and the Mundane world.    She is often the one to cross the hedge into the Otherworld, via Astral Projection.    There is a deep sense of Liminality within the Faery Enchantress, just like within the Faery Realms themselves, as she can help us heal the line between the Magickal and the Mundane, the line between Healing of Life and Death!    By embracing the Faery Enchantress Archetype, we are beginning to heal our fears about our own mortality!

I hope you have enjoyed this short and semi-rambling post featuring my analysis of why the Faery Enchantress Archetype is so powerful in my life.   Do you feel connected to the Faery Enchantress?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
