Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s blog post, I am sharing a poem about celebrating Samhain season on a dark and rainy night with horror films and books!
A Dark and Rainy Night
by Maranda Wabik
Rain falls outside
Glimpses of lightning from which I cannot hide
In this home where I reside
Oh, the window pane is full of rain
The night is dark and cold
The energy of Autumn has taken hold
Samhain draws nearer each day
I can feel the Veil parting away
The energy of the Otherworld is alive
Oh, how this makes me thrive
With the feeling of a dark cold night
It is the perfect time to enjoy a fright
Horror films and spooky books
Candles lit to set the mood as I read
A dark room to set the mood
For when the horror film plays
This is the soft and cozy energy of Samhain
Where there is rest to be had,
Even as the spine chills
Oh, yes, there are thrills
But there is also warmth within the home
Even as the stormy night rages outside
Oh, yes, I can truly enjoy all of the magick
Of this dark and rainy night!
~I hope you have enjoyed this poem. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

What a beautiful, atmospheric poem! Maranda perfectly captures that unique, cozy-yet-eerie energy of Samhain season. The contrast between the stormy night outside and the warm, candlelit sanctuary within is so evocative—it makes me want to curl up with a horror novel and a cup of tea immediately! The lines about the Veil parting and the Otherworld being alive are particularly magical. This poem truly celebrates the beauty of finding comfort in the spooky and the sacred during this special time of year. 🎃🕯️🌧️ Lovely work, Maranda!
Thank you for your kind words! I am delighted to know that my poem captured the autumnal atmosphere so well. As always, thanks for reading and commenting! 🎃 🕯️ ✨
