Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s blog post, I will be sharing a poem about the Queen and Priestess Archetypes and their connection to Autumn in Avalon!
The Queen and the Priestess

The crown lies on the brow
Reminding you to whom they bow
The crescent tattoo on the third eye
A symbol of the arcane wisdom on high
Both are positions of power
Both rise high above the tower
Some may say Shakespeare was right
‘Heavy lies the head that wears the crown’
But you know there is more to this renown
Yes, the power of the Queen is vast
Yet, the responsibility has amassed
The same is true for the Priestess
Responsibility and integrity are required
These are not positions which are simply acquired
For you must take up the Sword of Truth
And hold it tightly
Or else you will suffer mightily
The Queen as the Lady of Avalon
The Priestess as the Lady of the Lake
Are blessed energies to honor
Are blessed energies to embrace
Are blessed energies to hone
With respect and with grace
With love and with joy
With the Sovereignty of the Soul
That grants the Queen and the Priestess true authenticity
Well beyond any alaricity
For the position is one not to hold lightly
Remember the respect of the self
That is required to take on the mantle
Of Queen and of Priestess
Oh, the question is:
Who will you impress?
Lead with the heart
That is a good start!

I love how you draw the parallel between the Queen and the Priestess — two archetypes that carry such weight and wisdom, yet remain deeply human in their call to integrity and truth. The lines about the Sword of Truth and “the Sovereignty of the Soul” really resonated with me; they remind us that true authority comes from within, not from the crown or the title alone.
The imagery of Avalon and the Lady of the Lake feels perfectly attuned to autumn — a season of both harvest and introspection, sovereignty and surrender.
