Dancing with the Dragon Queen: A Poem

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s Mermaid Monday blog post, I am sharing a poem about communing with the Watery Dragon Queen!

Dancing with the Dragon Queen

by Maranda Wabik

Feeling of water flowing over my skin

As wings flap overhead

The sound is to a bird’s wing akin

But yet so much louder

I look above to see a White Dragon

She has just emerged from the Sea

As I stand at the shoreline

Oh, her beauty is sublime

A melodious sound comes from her voice

Oh, but to listen, I have no choice

She speaks in a language I do not understand

But one my Soul knows

I listen, and I learn

Soon, my body begins to dance

It is as if I am in a trance

Messages of the past and future flow

As I feel my Aura expand and glow

Oh, the Water Dragon is my friend

Here to guide me around another bend

On the endlessly spiralling and winding path

That I, as a Watery Enchantress, hath!

~I hope you have enjoyed this poem.   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

  1. A few things that stood out:

The sensory imagery — “Feeling of water flowing over my skin / As wings flap overhead” immediately immerses the reader in the scene. You can feel the mist and hear those powerful wings.

The language of the soul — This line is particularly moving: “She speaks in a language I do not understand / But one my Soul knows.” It speaks to that profound intuitive knowing that transcends words — a beautiful description of spiritual communion.

The dance as trance — The way the poem moves from observation to participation, with the speaker’s body beginning to dance and the aura expanding and glowing, captures the transformative power of connecting with the divine feminine and the element of water.

The closing lines — “On the endlessly spiralling and winding path / That I, as a Watery Enchantress, hath!” — such a lovely affirmation of the speaker’s own magical identity.

The White Dragon emerging from the sea as a guide and friend feels both ancient and deeply personal. A wonderful tribute to the Watery Dragon Queen!

Thank you for sharing this, Maranda. 🌊🐉
