Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s Tarot Tuesday blog post, I will be discussing Tarot as a self-development tool!
Many people look at Tarot as simply a tool to use for divination. However, to only use Tarot as a way to look towards the future is to forget how powerful the deck is. While the deck is certainly useful to consult when you have a question in mind, there is much more there. That is where Tarot as a self-development tool can be seen.
There are many ways to use the deck for self-development. The way I would say that is a great start is to draw cards, as you would when you are using the deck for divination, but instead ask no questions and simply open yourself up to what the deck desires to tell you. Some of the most potent readings you can perform for yourself can happen this way. It is a direct communion between you and the cards, between you and your own Spiritual Team! When you want to go a bit deeper, you can dive into Tarot meditations. This can mean picking a specific card that you want to gain a deeper connection with, or deeper insights on, or you can draw a card, letting the deck decide which energy you should be focusing on. Once you have your card, then you are going to focus on the imagery and let your eyes soften (or even close) while meditating on the energy and imagery of the card. I have had some insanely powerful revelations happen during Tarot meditations!
If you want to continue delving into Tarot with self-development past meditations, you can use Tarot in your spellworkings and rituals, or try Tarot journaling. Tarot journaling is both the process of recording your readings to see where patterns are forming surrounding what cards are coming up, as well as journaling on the energy of individual cards and your relationship with them! Once you get comfortable doing these types of exercises, you will likely begin to find yourself getting inspired on new ways to work with the deck. As a bonus, all of these self-development tips I have shared here are also wonderful building blocks to forming a deep relationship with the deck. Forming a relationship with the deck and with each card will aid you in feeling more comfortable with performing readings. You see, simply memorizing the traditional meanings of the cards can only get you so far, as you will be able to gain much more insight and clarity once you begin to learn what each card means to you personally!
I hope that you have enjoyed reading this short reflection on Tarot as a tool for self-development. What is your favorite way to use Tarot besides as a divinatory tool? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
