Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s blog post, I will be sharing my reflections on my vacation this past weekend!
So, I am back from my short holiday with my husband this past weekend, and I am feeling really great. A couple of days at the beach were definitely what I needed to reset my energy! Of course, on Sunday, I ended up getting a sunburn, even with reapplying my sunscreen three times in between swimming and immediately covering up after I was out of the water. Oh, well, that is the thing about having very fair skin, and sometimes it cannot be helped. But I will say it was totally worth it to spend all of that time in the Sea! Plus, as an herbalist, I tend a large aloe plant in my home, making the healing process much easier.
Now, on to some further reflections. We went to Belmar, New Jersey, for this vacation, and it was so lovely. It is a lovely little town, and our hotel was right next to the beach, meaning we could walk everywhere we needed to go! This is always a major bonus for me, as I love to wander around when I am in a new place to find hidden treasures. That is how we found a wonderful little record shop, which we stopped at twice to explore, given that my husband and I both adore collecting physical media, especially vinyl, CDs, and DVDs/BluRays. We definitely found some really awesome stuff there, which made the weekend all the more fun. Other than that, we stopped by a Crystal Shop and a Vintage Jewelry Store. At the latter, Andrew got me a gorgeous Antique Silver Celtic Knot pendant that was made in Ireland, as an early birthday present! I love it and have been wearing it since (except for in the ocean, obviously). Of course, I did cleanse and enchant the pendant before I put it on, using the crystals and other items I brought with me in a small travel altar. It truly felt like this was meant to come to me, and I feel very blessed that my husband bought me this lovely gift!
So, the vast majority of Sunday was spent at the beach in the water, and I would not have had it any other way. There really is nothing like feeling held by the Sea. Plus, I firmly believe that you are never too old to play Mermaids! In fact, I have always naturally swum with my feet together. Now, I am not sure if that is an Incarnated Mermaid thing or what, but when I taught myself to swim as a child, that was my natural way. Of course, I can swim the more traditional way (alternating my legs), but in the ocean, I feel all the more called to swim with my legs together, as a Mermaid does! It was also so wonderful to see how much fun my husband was having in the water. It truly set us both free, and cleansed us of all that was weighing us down. There is something so inherently magickal about saying silent prayers to the Mermaid Goddesses, Faery Queens, and Merfolk when you are actually in the ocean. I even took some time to collect some saltwater and sand to bring home with me for my magickal workings here.
This past weekend was definitely exactly what I needed to feel refreshed and rejuvenated. The good food, the joyful exploration for treasures, and the swimming were the perfect reset! I hope you have enjoyed this brief reflection on my short weekend vacation with my husband. What has been your favorite memory from this Summer? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

What a magical getaway! I loved reading about your weekend—it sounds absolutely rejuvenating in every way. 🌊✨
Your connection to the ocean is so beautiful, and I adore that you swim like a mermaid naturally. That definitely feels like a soul-deep thing! And what a treasure to find that Celtic knot pendant—especially with the travel altar cleansing and enchanting. It was clearly meant for you.
Sunburns are no fun (fellow fair-skinned friend here!), but it sounds like that aloe plant is putting in the work. Totally worth it for the joy of the sea!
My favorite summer memory so far? Probably a spontaneous sunset picnic by a lake with my partner—no phones, just good snacks, fireflies, and watching the stars come out. Simple but soul-filling, just like your beach days.
Can’t wait to read more of your reflections, Maranda! 🧜♀️💙
I am glad you enjoyed reading about my little holiday! Your spontaneous picnic sounds wonderful! Sometimes the unplanned things are the best. Thank you for your kind words and for reading! ☀️ 🌊 🧜🏻♀️
My favourite memory will be the ever growing spiritual connection that I have been nurturing for these past months. A place that I can go back to when the cold of winter comes! 🙂
That’s so beautiful! New spiritual connections are always so lovely! ☀️
