Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s Tarot Tuesday blog post, I will be exploring the connection between the Queen of Cups and the Zodiac sign of Cancer!
I thought that this was an ideal follow-up post to last week’s post about the Queen of Wands and Leo. After all, while Leo is my Sun and Moon sign in Sidereal Astrology, Cancer is my Ascendant sign. So, yes, I am deeply tied to Cancer energy in my Sidereal chart! Cancer is the cardinal water sign of the Zodiac and holds a deep resonance with maternal energy.
However, Cancer is also ruled by the Moon, marking the sign’s innate connection with intuition. That is where the ties with the Queen of Cups in Tarot truly begin to shine! The Queen of Cups is the double water card, given that Queens are represented by the water element and Cups is the water suit. This deeply watery energy holds resonance with everything of an emotional and, yes, intuitive nature. The Queen of Cups is often described as a guiding dream or vision; she is there to direct us in the quest to follow our hearts!
This too holds resonance with Cancer, as Cancer’s deeply emotional nature means that Cancer’s energy can certainly help with letting your heart lead the way. The high level of empathy Cancers tend to have is mirrored in the way the Queen of Cups is always desiring to help others, hence guiding them on their path. While Cancer is known for having a hard shell to protect fragile emotions, hence being represented by a crab, the Queen of Cups shows the deeply emotional nature of the Cancer when they do not feel the need to protect their vulnerable side.
Just like the Moon, Cancer’s ruler, directs the tides of the ocean, the Queen of Cups, as a double water card, can direct us towards areas of life that need tending to emotionally. We can truly tap into the innate emotional shifts that we feel to learn where the greatest growth can occur! The Queen of Cups and Cancerian energy both are present to remind us to listen to the intuition, to listen to the emotions, and to listen to the song of your soul. There is freedom to be gained when you are willing to listen to your inner voice. It is exactly that freedom that is as vast as the ocean, and that freedom will set your heart free. The Queen of Cups energy can be an ideal aid in helping you to weather the storm of your emotions, just as Cancer’s protective shell aids in preventing excess emotional pain!
So, yes, it is clear that the energy of Cancer and the Queen of Cups share a good deal of overlap. That means that working spells, rituals, and doing meditations with the Queen of Cups card can be an ideal aid to embracing Cancerian energy. I hope you have enjoyed this short meditative reflection on the Queen of Cups and Cancer connection. Do you have any Cancer in your birth chart? Do you work with the Queen of Cups Archetype? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Yeah, I think that although the high summer (june-july) has a deep influence in our psyche, that the sidereal zodiad also explains a lot of things. This can be observed by how usual tropical virgos (particularly those born late august/beginning of september) seem more leo than virgo. Although I have Venus is my tropical Sun sign (Libra), my sidereal Sun sign is virgo, which can explain some aesthetical, artistical, and relational traits that I have. But Leos are also very creative as well, sometimes even more than other signs.
Yes, I do agree with that, especially the early September Virgos in Tropical Astrology seeming more like Leos, as this is the case for me. That is because in Sidereal they are Leos! Thanks for reading and commenting.
