Leo Energy and the Queen of Wands

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s Tarot Tuesday blog post, I will be exploring Leo energy and how this Zodiac sign relates to the Queen of Wands!

Given that Leo is considered the King, or Monarch, energy of the Zodiac, it should not be surprising that we can also apply this energy to the Queen Archetype.   Beyond that, given Leo’s Solar rulership, being the only Zodiac sign ruled by the Sun, and the sign’s connection to the fire element, the most obvious Tarot Queen to align with Leo is the Queen of Wands.   Leo is a very big energy, often thought of as theatrical and over the top, drawing attention easily wherever a Leo appears.   This certainly reminds me of the way that the Queen of Wands is perceived as forever drawing others to her like moths to the flame!

The Queen of Wands even has a connection with cats, as they often appear in the card’s artwork, likely a reference to the Queen of Wands being called the Witch of the Tarot.   However, when we look to the connection between the Queen of Wands and Leo energy, this goes deeper, given that Leo is represented by the lion!   The Queen of Wands and Leo can both be seen as magnetic and alchemical forces, there to inspire others and take creative leaps.   There is a fearless pursuit of what is desired and what is dreamed when we think about the energy of Leo, and this is another commonality with the Queen of Wands.   The Queen of Wands is the Alchemical Dragon Priestess who combines the elements of water and fire into a boiling potion of Awen that will grant ever greater changes in life!

This brings to mind my personal Sun and Moon Nakshatra in Vedic Astrology, Purva Phalguni.   Purva Phalguni is a Nakshatra, or Lunar Mansion, located in the sign of Sidereal Leo.   While the Sun and fire are associated with Leo, Purva Phalguni is ruled by Venus and the element of water!   In fact, my whole Vedic chart is very watery, even with my Leo stellium coming into play.   You see, I actually have a Leo stellium in all of my birth charts: my Tropical, Sidereal, and Vedic.   So, I certainly have big Leo energy!   It also makes a lot of sense to me that I began working more closely with the Queen of Wands at the time when I was deepening my study of Vedic Astrology, as she reflects truths found in my Vedic chart.

So, yes, the Queen of Wands balances water and fire, just like my Vedic chart does, bringing to mind the energy of a boiling cauldron ready to create wondrous enchantment.   The Queen of Wands also holds the energy of both the Queen Archetype and the Creatrix Archetype, given her regal elegance and her ability to enchant with her charisma.   The Creatrix is also called the Lover and the Enchantress; she is the primary archetype present in my personality makeup, with the Queen being the tertiary archetype always present!   Clearly, it is easy to see why the Queen of Wands energy would present itself more and more as I studied Vedic Astrology, given I was opening up to innate truths of my chart which mirrored her energy.   None more so than the big Leo energy, full of Sun and fire, which was entwined with Venus and water through the link with Purva Phalguni Nakshatra!

I hope you have enjoyed reading this reflection about how I have found resonance between Leo and the Queen of Wands.   Have you explored your Vedic chart?   Do you study where your birth chart and Tarot overlap?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
