Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s Mermaid Monday blog post, I will be discussing Pleasure Priestesses and the Sacred Waters.   I thought that this would serve as an ideal first post after last week’s Aphrodisia Theme.

So, you may wonder, what exactly is a Pleasure Priestess?   Well, the term is quite self-explanatory.   A Pleasure Priestess is a Sacred Sexual Priestess, one who is here to teach others to embrace the beauty of Sacred Sexuality while freely embracing her own!   I definitely work with this type of Priestess energy.   You may also think of this as a Lover Priestess, a Priestess who works with the Lover Archetype and Priestesses to Love Goddesses.   All of these things are intimately entwined: the Lover, Pleasure, and Sacred Sexuality.   

When we learn to see our bodies as the Sacred Vessels of Our Souls, we can begin to realize that doing things that we find pleasurable, be that sexual or not, is a way to honor our Sacred Vessels.   Pleasure goes beyond simple sexual satisfaction, of course.   There is pleasure in art, pleasure in music, pleasure in play, pleasure in food, and pleasure in beauty.   A Pleasure Priestess is one who encourages people to give in to the delights of their senses.   After all, the sensory world is meant to be experienced, meant to be enjoyed!

Now that I have gone over some of the reasons for the Pleasure Priestess arts, let’s look at how they relate to the Sacred Waters.   The first, and most obvious, way the Pleasure Priestess connects to the Sacred Waters is through the emotions.   Pleasure Priestesses encourage others to fully express and embrace their emotions in a healthy way, and water is the element of the emotions.   Secondly, many Love Goddesses are intimately tied to the Sacred Waters; Aphrodite is a Sea Goddess, Melusine is a Mermaid Goddess, and Aine has a Mermaid form.   That is just to name a few Love Goddesses I work with.   Finally, Mermaids in general are deeply connected to Sacred Sexuality and pleasure.   I find that many who would consider themselves to have a connection with the arts of the Pleasure Priestess are intimately connected with Mermaids!
