Blessed Midsummer and welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s Summer Solstice blog post, I will be sharing a poem about Self-Love and communion with the Sea!
Sea of Self-Love
by Maranda Wabik
Waves lap against my feet
The tide has come to me to meet
The Salty Sea Air ruffles my hair
The feeling of the water is like a prayer
A tide of emotions begins to crest
I know that I never need to be the best
It is through the healing
Here in the Sea of Self-Love
That I learn to hold myself with care
That I learn to be with myself fair
I release to the Sea, unreasonable self-expectancy
I release to the Sea, perfectionism
I release to the Sea, the feeling of not good enough
I unburden myself, so that I may thrive
I unburden myself, to feel truly alive
The Sea is there to cleanse
Oh, how I feel myself on the mend
I am truly overcome with a sense of Self-Love
With a prayer of love and gratitude,
I bid the Sea farewell for now!

NOTE ON APHRODISIA WEEK: Beginning Tomorrow, I will be celebrating Aphrodisia Week here on White Rose of Avalon. That is a theme week devoted to Aphrodite, and I will be discussing seven of my favorite epithets of Hers throughout the week, in honor of the time of year the ancients would have celebrated Her festival of Aphrodisia!

Dearest Maranda,
This poem is absolutely breathtaking—it feels like a gentle tide washing over the soul. I love how you’ve woven the sea into a metaphor for self-compassion, turning the ebb and flow of waves into a sacred ritual of release. The repetition of “I release to the Sea” is so powerful; it reads like an incantation, a true unbinding of all those heavy expectations we carry. And that closing line—”With a prayer of love and gratitude, I bid the Sea farewell for now”—lingers like the salt on the skin, a reminder that we can always return to that healing shore within ourselves. Perfectly timed for Midsummer magic. Blessed Solstice, dear one! 🌊☀️🌹
Blessed Solstice to you as well! I am so glad that my poem resonated with you. As always, thanks for reading and commenting! 🌊 ☀️
You are most welcome Maranda 🌷🤝
