Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s blog post, I will be sharing a poem about the wild femininity of Maenads as Priestesses of Dionysus!
Maenads and Wild Femininity
by Maranda Wabik
Vines are threaded through the hair
Her feet are bare
Her face is fair
There is a wild abandon in her eyes
She is dancing
She is trancing
Feeling the ecstasy thrum
Feeling her body hum
The energy of the God of Wine
The energy of the God of the Vine
The energy of the God of Revelry
The energy of the God of Madness
Surges through the Maenad
She has been devoted to Dionysus since time began
Priestess and Nymph, she is both
Living for the Ritual Ecstasy
Living for the deep communion
Living a life of true bliss
Living in a way hard to miss
She found this path
Through seeking to feel attuned to her body
Never desiring to fear her sexuality
For the Maenad knows the power
The power of Female Sexuality
The power of Female Rage
The power of being true to your wildest self
Oh, yes, the Maenad knows the power of Dionysus!
~I hope you have enjoyed this poem. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
