Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For this week’s Siren Saturday, I have decided to share the nineteenth entry in my Incarnated Mermaid Diaries series. Today’s topic is Embracing the Empress Within for Midsummer!
As we are getting closer to the Solstice, which is a week from tomorrow, it has had me thinking about archetypes to embrace this season. For me, the most potent Tarot Archetype that you can utilize in Summer is the Empress! She is the ultimate icon of prosperity, abundance, and fruitfulness. So, as the Summer is in full swing, it is the time to find joy in the new energy that is coming forth.
In the Summer, we see all of the growth at its peak. All of the plants are growing in abundance, the fruits and vegetables are becoming ripe, and the energy of the Sun is making for a time of action. I always feel more inspired to act, rather than simply go within, in the Summer. The Winter is a time for rumination and reflection, and the Summer is the time to act on all of the things that you have been ruminating on!
The Empress is the archetype of the Faery Queen who makes the marriage to the King on behalf of the Sacred Land and Sacred Waters. She is the Goddess who blessed the Kingdom with Sovereignty, and that blessing is what ultimately leads to abundance! As an Incarnated Mermaid, I feel pulled towards the joyful energy of the Empress, the one who blesses the Kingdom and people with prosperity. There is something so nurturing and lovely about the emotional fulfillment that the Empress can give you.
The Empress is the Venusian energy of the Tarot, with the glyph of Venus often portrayed on the card. When we work with her in the Summer, she is Venus making a connection with the Sun. The Solar Faery Queens, like Rhiannon and Aine, are making their presence known, and they are very much aligned with the Empress, and they are also Celtic Venusian Faery Queens. So, we embrace the energy of the Empress to become stewards of the Sacred Waters, and as the Venus and Sun energies conjunct, we can truly be the Queen of Summer!
