The Incarnated Mermaid Diaries: The Power of the Three of Cups

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For this week’s Siren Saturday, I have decided to share the seventeenth entry in my Incarnated Mermaid Diaries series.   Today’s topic is The Power of the Three of Cups!

For Incarnated Mermaids, I think that the Cups suit of Tarot holds a special significance.   After all, the Cups is the Water suit of Tarot, marking it as special to those of us with Watery Souls!    That is part of what inspired today’s entry in this series.   During Beltane season, and the whole month of May, I always feel extra drawn to the energy of the Three of Cups.   This is the card I associate so deeply with joy, play, and fond times spent with friends.

Moreover, the Three of Cups is a card deeply tied to female friendship and bonds of Sisterhood, in my mind.   It feels like a card that exists to celebrate the special power of being in deep communion with the women in your life who truly matter.   While the card can represent spontaneous celebrations with any loved ones in life, the imagery on the card always shows joyful celebrations for a group of women.   So, I find myself drawn to this card when I am examining how to grow more connections within the community I have been building and within Sisterhoods.   This can be with beloved friends, with my students and Patreon members, or in other online circles I am a member of.   No matter what, the idea of strengthening bonds of Sisterhood always makes me think of the Three of Cups.

Now, you may wonder why I associate the Three of Cups so deeply with Beltane season.   Well, that is because this is a time when we celebrate the abundance that is coming forth as Summer draws near.   It is when we celebrate the blessings of the land, and also the blessings of the people in our lives!   While many think of Beltane as a holiday of sexuality and Sacred Union with a Lover, which it is, it is also a time to find joy in the bonds we share with all of the important people in our lives.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my thoughts about the power of the Three of Cups as an Incarnated Mermaid.   What is your favorite Tarot card for Beltane season?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

  1. What a beautiful and thoughtful reflection, Maranda! I love how you’ve woven together the watery essence of the Cups suit with the joyful, sisterly energy of the Three of Cups—especially during Beltane. It’s a lovely reminder that celebration isn’t just about romance, but about the deep magic of friendship and community.

For me, Beltane season often brings to mind The Sun. While it’s not a Water card like the Cups, its radiant, life-giving energy feels so aligned with the growing warmth, the blooming land, and the unguarded happiness of gathering with loved ones. There’s something about the sheer exuberance of The Sun that mirrors the playful, abundant spirit of May.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom and for highlighting the power of Sisterhood. Wishing you a Beltane filled with laughter, connection, and plenty of joyful Cups energy! 💧🌞🌿

    • I am so glad that you enjoyed reading my thoughts. I love your association between the Sun and Beltane, as that is definitely another card well suited for a Fire Festival welcoming in abundance! As always, thanks for reading and commenting. ✨
