Scrying the Well of Intentions

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For this week’s Mermaid Monday blog post, I will be discussing Scrying the Well of Intentions.   What exactly does that mean?   You see, we all have goals in mind, and it is important to make sure that our intentions are aligned with our ideals and ethics!   Without further ado, let’s dig into this topic.

So, that leads into a deeper explanation of what it means to Scrying the Well of Intentions.   To Scry the Well is to examine why you want the things you are seeking to call forth into your life.   It is not just to simply say ‘I want this’ and perform an Intention Setting Spell.   We should always make sure we are clear on exactly what we want and why we want it.   For instance, you may want a large sum of money and desire it for obvious reasons, like needing it to get out of debt.   That is a perfectly reasonable desire.   However, you have to be clear on whether or not you are okay with how that money may come to you.   It is not uncommon for our spells to work in unexpected ways.   Like a spell to call in a certain amount of money could come to us through a job or a raise, but it can also come to us through someone we love passing away and leaving an inheritance!

Of course, that is not to say your intention with your money spell caused this, but it is to say that the spell worked in a way that you would not have liked.   That is why we have to be clear on why we want something and what we are willing to have possibly happen so that we can obtain our desires.   Do the possible unexpected or negative outcomes balance out what you need or desire?   Does it break with your values, ethics, or ideals to have your desires come to you in a way that could cause pain?   Are you ready to deal with any consequences of your Intention Spell?   If you cannot answer yes to all of these things, you may have to reframe what you are asking for.   I do not say this to discourage you, but instead to encourage you to think through your magickal actions before you perform a spell.   There will always be unexpected consequences.   There will also always be a balance struck.   For instance, if you do a spell to get the new job you interviewed for, that means that other people will not get that job.   There is nothing wrong with that, but you must be aware that by using your magick, you are stacking the odds in your favor and against any rival.

So, I say all of this to encourage you to move forth in your magickal and spiritual practices with eyes wide open.   If you feel discomfort with the more Grey Magick areas, where calling forth something for yourself could cause unexpected consequences for others, maybe it is time to stick to Self-Love, Protection, and Healing Magicks.   I hope that this short meditation on Scrying the Well of Intentions has given you some food for thought.    Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

  1. Thank you for this insightful post, Maranda! I love the concept of “scrying the well” before casting—it’s such a powerful reminder to pause and really examine the why behind our desires. The example about money coming through an inheritance really hit home. It’s easy to focus on the outcome we want without considering the unexpected paths the universe might take to get us there. Your encouragement to sit with possible consequences, and to be honest about what we’re willing to accept, feels both wise and compassionate. And I appreciate that you gave space for those who might feel uneasy with grey areas—sometimes self-love and protection magic are exactly where we need to be. This gave me a lot to reflect on. Looking forward to more Mermaid Mondays! 🧜‍♀️✨

    • I am delighted to know that my post gave you some food for thought! I think that taking time to reflect and really examine about possible consequences is so important as we grow on our magickal paths. As always, thanks for reading and commenting! ✨
