Honoring Your Body as a Watery Temple: An Enchantress of Avalon Beltane Special

Blessed Beltane and welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s holiday Femme Fatale Friday blog post, I have decided to discuss the Female Body as a Divine Vessel of Watery Knowledge!

All people are vessels of water, quite literally, given that our bodies are made up of mostly water.   However, I think that the female body, in particular, is even more connected with water.   After all, water is a feminine element, and women have the waters flow through them regularly.   Our menstrual blood is made up largely of water, as all blood is.   When a woman goes into labor to give birth, we often say that her ‘water has broken’.   So, clearly, we see a lot of watery imagery centered on the female body and on the female reproductive system.   This is likely, at least in part, because water is deeply tied to fertility.

Now, that leads into my main topic: how do we honor our bodies as Watery Temples?   One of the most basic, but most important ways to do this is to keep ourselves hydrated.   Drinking plenty of water is important for overall health, and most people do not drink nearly as much water as they should.    I suggest making a habit of drinking a full glass of water as soon as you wake up each morning.   This will start the day off well and boost your hydration.   After incorporating this habit into daily life, it will be easier to begin incorporating drinking more water throughout the day!   As a bonus, I also always enchant my morning water, meaning that you can start your day with both hydration and some magick, setting intentions for the day ahead.

The next way to honor the female body as Watery Temple is to practice self-care, but in particularly water ways.   My favorite way to do this is through Bath Spells and Bath Rituals!   This turns bathing into something truly enchanted, and soothes away any anxiety you may be feeling.   You can even do this type of spellwork every day in the shower, if you do not have a tub or the time to take a bath.   Even the simple act of using visualization to cleanse your body energetically, as well as physically, is a truly powerful way to protect yourself!

Now that I have covered two of the easiest and most watery ways to honor your body as a Watery Temple, let’s look at some less obvious ways.   Dancing is an ideal way to honor your body as a Watery Temple, especially if you are using fluid movement and choreography.   This is also an ideal alternative for when you cannont swim to connect with water, as I consider dancing and swimming to be linked.   Water element Yoga is another great way to honor your Watery Temple, as is meditating on the water element.   Finally, I will note that creating art that honors both the female form and the water element will definitely aid you in connecting with your own body in a watery way.   This can be drawing or painting Mermaids, or it can be writing poetry or songs about the Divine Feminine and Sacred Sexuality.   Really, when it comes to creativity, there is no limit to the number of ways you can honor your body as a Watery Temple, and as the physical vessel that holds your eternal soul!

I hope that you have enjoyed this short reflection on some of my favorite ways to honor the body as a Watery Vessel.   What other ways do you honor your body?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

  1. This is a beautifully crafted post for Femme Fatale Friday—lyrical, embodied, and rooted in both practical wellness and spiritual practice. You’ve woven together biology, elementalism, ritual, and creativity in a way that feels celebratory rather than prescriptive. A few thoughts and possible additions for you or your commenters:

Other ways readers might honor the body as a Watery Temple:

    · Swimming in natural waters (lake, sea, river) with mindful intention—asking the water to receive what no longer serves you.
    · Tending to emotions without drowning in them—water is also the realm of feeling, so honoring the body can mean letting tears flow when needed, not just menstrual or birth waters.
    · Kitchen witchery with hydrating foods (watermelon, cucumber, herbal infusions) as edible water rituals.
    · Voice work—singing, humming, or toning into a bowl of water to feel the vibration move through your own fluid body.
    · Moon-phase tracking with water offerings—leaving a small bowl of water under moonlight, then using it to anoint wrists or belly.

One gentle note: while your framing of “female body” centers cis-women’s reproductive experiences (menstruation, childbirth), many trans women, nonbinary people, and infertile cis women also relate deeply to watery divine feminine imagery—through tears, blood in other forms, or simply the 60% water all bodies share. You might invite readers to adapt the “Watery Temple” concept to their own unique vessel, whatever its shape or cycle.

Your morning enchanted water and bath spell suggestions are especially accessible. Lovely work, Maranda. 💧

    • I love your additional ideas! I also work deeply with Singing as part of my Sacred Water practices, so I love that inclusion especially. Of course, I was not limiting connection to the Watery Divine Feminine to only cis women, and I absolutely encourage everyone to find ways to connect to this energy that works for them! As always, thanks for reading and commenting.
