Movie Recommendations for When You Want to Feel Like a Springtime Maiden

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s blog post, I will be sharing another list of film recommendations based on mood.   This time, I will be sharing a list of films to watch when you want to feel like a Springtime Maiden and embrace the energy of the Maiden Archetype!   So, most of these are fantasy-based films, but the first one I am sharing is historical.   I have chosen these types of films, as these are the things that make me feel very Springy.   These films are not ranked, as I am just sharing recommendations to embrace the energy of the Springtime Maiden.   Without further ado, let’s look at Springtime Maiden films!

Marie Antoinette (2006)

~I love this biopic by Sofia Coppola.   While it takes many liberties with history (as let’s face it, all historical biopics do), it holds such a compelling energy.   The soundtrack is amazing, and that, combined with the visuals, seeks to remind the viewer that Marie Antoinette was only a teenager when she married and became Queen!   As for the Spring vibes, Marie Antoinette’s time spent with her ladies and daughter at Le Petit Trianon is the ideal imagery for Spring.   Those scenes feel like a lovely Spring day, and that is why I adore this film for Spring!

Tuck Everlasting (2002)

~I still have fond memories of my mom taking me to see this film in theaters.   I was really enchanted with the trailers as a child, and we watched Gilmore Girls together, so she wanted to take me to see a film starring Alexis Bledel.   The film itself is very sweet, a mixture of innocent first love and a coming-of-age narrative.   The coming-of-age side of things is very interesting, given the immortality aspect within the film’s plot.   All of the outdoor scenes feel like a warm and joyful Spring day, which makes it an ideal film to watch to feel like a Springtime Maiden!

Stardust (2007)
~I adore this film adaptation of the Neil Gaiman novel.   The film is a romance with a high-fantasy twist.    I love the world we get to know in the film, and I love the characters so much.    As for the Springtime vibes, I think this film has the Spring as a season for lovers’ energy.   Not to mention, the Springtime Maiden energy here is more celestial, given our Maiden is literally a Star, which makes this a unique choice for Springtime Maiden films on this list!

Sleeping Beauty (1959)

~I would be remiss to not include this Disney classic!   All of the scenes in the Woodland with Aurora and Phillip feel like a Springtime Dream.   Aurora’s dancing barefoot in the Woodland truly is peak Springtime Maiden energy!

Maleficent (2014)

~Just as with the previous film, Aurora’s character in this villain origin story is peak Springtime Maiden.   As a bonus, we get lots of imagery of Maleficent as a young Faery Maiden herself at the beginning of the film.   Much of the beautiful outdoor and Woodland scenes truly feel like a Spring Dream!

La Belle et la Bête (1946)

~Another apt inclusion for the Spring is for lovers, the side of the Spring energy is the 1946 version of Beauty and the Beast.   This Jean Cocteau classic is a lovely, surreal fantasy of a fairytale film.   The fact that a Rose is the crux of the plot, setting the events into motion, further exemplifies the Spring energy.   Belle is truly another ideal Springtime Maiden example, full of love, empathy, and a deep adoration for Nature!

Miranda (1948) & Mad About Men (1954)

~The final films on this list are listed together, given that the second film is a sequel.   I could not resist including these two British Mermaid Films, and not just because the titular Mermaid character shares my first name (well, with the traditional spelling of the name, but still).   I also had to include these films because of the playful and joyful energy and personality of Miranda the Mermaid!   She is an example of the very flirty version of the Springtime Maiden.

~I hope you have enjoyed this list of recommendations.   What other films can you think of that fit the Springtime Maiden vibe?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
