Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s blog post, I will be discussing the idea of Watering the Seeds of Intention after they have been sown!
When we set intentions for ourselves, we are planting seeds that we wish to bring into fruition in the future. However, the planting of the seeds of intention is only the first step towards truly manifesting your dreams. I think that it is very easy for us to simply set intentions, do a ritual or spell to call forth intentions, or try to focus on positive thinking surrounding our desires, but then we forget about everything else.
Intentions, just like flowers blossoming from the seed, need to be watered. You need to remember to work your intentions into a gratitude practice, for example, being grateful for where the seeds of intention may have begun taking root. You need to practice self-nurturance and self-love, allowing yourself a break from the anxiety that may arise from not having your intentions come to fruition in a certain timeline, for this is watering those seeds also. You need to be willing to release that which does not serve you, confronting any Shadow issues that may arise as your intentions begin to bear fruit, for this is also watering those seeds.
Setting intentions is the first step to attaining your goals, but then you have to be willing to be kind to yourself with things that are still in progress, becoming open to receiving the blessings that will come. You also need to remember to be grateful for the small blessings, as they come, and be willing to confront those Shadow issues that may arise from not having things manifest as quickly as you desire, or being overwhelmed when things go your way! I know that I have repeated those things, but it is imperative to understand that trying to force the issue or obsessing on what you want will ultimately impede the flow of blessings into your life. When we instead take care of ourselves, have gratitude, and actively seek to be attuned to where our Shadow may become activated, we can begin to receive!
You can even choose to look back at a specific intention that you were working to manifest through a spell or ritual, and perform another ritual to nourish those seeds. This can be through gratitude or through self-love, or even through another intention-setting ritual. It is always a good idea to update your intentions; that is, to perform another intention-setting spell or ritual to focus on more specific aspects of what you are seeking to call forth. I find that this keeps me in clear communication with myself over what it is that I am truly seeking to bring forth into my life. It is also a way for me to show gratitude for what I already have, while becoming even clearer on what I am working towards! Then, I take the time to relax, to do what makes me feel good, as this is what opens me up to receive.
I hope that this short post has given you food for thought about watering the seeds of your intentions and approaching updating intentions with gratitude and self-love. What is your favorite way to work with intentions in your magickal and spiritual practice? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Hi Maranda! This post really resonated with me, and I just love the analogy of watering seeds to describe the ongoing work we need to put in after setting an intention. It’s such a beautiful reminder that the ritual or the moment of focus is just the beginning—the real magic happens in the daily, gentle nurturing that follows.
I especially appreciated what you said about self-nurturance and giving ourselves grace when things don’t manifest on our timeline. That part can be so hard, but you’re so right that pushing or obsessing can actually block the flow. The idea of “updating” intentions through another ritual is brilliant—it turns manifestation into a living, evolving conversation with ourselves rather than a one-time wish.
As for my own practice, I love to “water” my intentions by creating small, tangible rituals around everyday actions. For example, if I’m working on an intention around creativity, I might light a special candle while I write in my journal each morning. It’s a small act, but it feels like I’m consistently pouring a little bit of energy and attention back into that seed.
Thank you for this gentle and wise perspective. It’s definitely given me a lot to reflect on in my own practice
I am so glad that my post has given you some food for thought! I also love your ideas of small daily actions like lighting a candle being a way to water your intentions. You are so right that small actions, which become small daily habits, truly aid in manifesting dreams! As always, thanks for reading and commenting.
