The Two of Cups in Tarot: Card of True Love

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s Tarot Tuesday blog post, I will be discussing the energy of the Two of Cups card.

In many ways, I consider the Two of Cups and the Lovers card to hold very similar energies, but to different degrees.   As the Lovers card is a Major Arcana card, the energy is larger, denser, and more fixed.   Whereas the Two of Cups is a Minor Arcana card, so while the energy may mirror that of the Lovers in many ways, the energy is not as fixed and possibly a bit more subtle.   Now, let’s dig into the Two of Cups a bit more.

The Two of Cups is a card of True Love, of Happy Marriages, of Unity, and of Balancing the Masculine and the Feminine.   Much of this is also true of the Lovers, but the Two of Cups is a bit more focused on specifically romantic love.   Where the Lovers card can actually refer to partnerships of any sort, even those found in business or the balance of masculine and feminine energy within the self, the Two of Cups is more directly tied to romantic partnership.   That actually makes the Two of Cups, although a Minor Arcana card, a bit more specialized.

When the Two of Cups appears, it is more often than not referring to the romantic life of the querant.   Beyond this, the Two of Cups is an incredibly positive card.   It is a card denoting a happy and solid partnership between lovers!   This is a card whose energy speaks to two people coming together to provide a more balanced and cohesive whole.   The partnership depicted by the Two of Cups is one of True Love, one where both partners are equal, and one where both partners make each other better people!   This is certainly a positive omen for someone who is inquiring about the potential for a new relationship.  This is also a good omen for someone who has been having a rocky time in their current relationship, as this card denotes a restoration of balance.

Ultimately, the Two of Cups is exactly what the name suggests, the second card of the Water element suit, of the suit of the emotions.   So, of course, the Two of Cups would provide a balanced, stable, and loving outlook on a romantic partnership!   I hope you have enjoyed this short and meditative look at the Two of Cups.   What is your favorite thing about the Two of Cups?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
