Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s blog post, I will be sharing a poem celebrating the beginning of March!
Welcoming the Month of March
by Maranda Wabik
March is roaring in like a fierce Lion
The image of the Strength card fills my mind
A reminder of the balance of softness and fire
The Lion will become the Lamb
Or, perhaps more apropos, the Kitten
The Lion softens and is tamed
Maybe the Lion even gives way to Carroll’s March Hare
With whom, Tea Parties, I would love to share
In the Springtime Warmth,
In the joyful month of March
As the month of March gives way to a thaw,
The Vernal Equinox comes into bloom
The joy and abundance of Spring
Is just around the corner
Oh, this is just the thing
The snow will melt
The ice will water the flowers
The time of the Spring Awakening
Is nearly upon us
So, yes, I bid a joyous welcome to March
I cannot wait to enjoy
The Liminal Season of Transition
The Liminal Season of Dawning Warmth
The Liminal Season of Soft Sunshine
The Liminal Season of Fresh Flowers
The Season of Spring is nearly here
Now, there is nothing left to fear
As I joyously celebrate the new beginnings
With a smile for this time of renewal!

What a beautiful and uplifting poem to welcome March, Maranda! I love how you’ve woven together so many rich images—from the fierce Lion of the Strength card to the whimsical March Hare and his tea parties. The transition from winter’s roar to spring’s gentle thaw feels so vivid and hopeful.
Your phrase “Liminal Season of Transition” really captures that magical in-between time we’re entering, and the progression from Lion to Lamb to Kitten is absolutely charming. The way you describe snow melting to water the flowers is such a lovely reminder that even what’s passing away nourishes what’s to come.
This poem fills me with that same joyful anticipation of spring sunshine and fresh blooms. Thank you for sharing your gift with words and for giving us all a reason to smile at the new beginnings March brings!
I am so glad that you felt so uplifted by my poem! Spring is truly in the air, and I cannot wait to see what new beginnings are to come. As always, thanks for reading and commenting!
