Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For this week’s Siren Saturday, I have decided to share the sixth entry in my Incarnated Mermaid Diaries series. Today’s topic is Incarnated Mermaids and the Creatrix Archetype!
For those who may not know, the Creatrix Archetype is the primary archetype active in my personality. I think this is not surprising, given my Soul Origins, as the Creatrix is all about creativity, acting as muse, acting as artist, and is often tied to a very romantic nature. This romantic and passionate nature is certainly something that one would associate with Mermaids generally, as they tend to embody the sexuality and sensuality often tied to the Creatrix Archetype!
Now, you may wonder, what exactly does it mean to me to have a deep connection to the Creatrix Archetype and also know my Soul Origins as an Incarnated Mermaid? Well, knowing my Soul Origins definitely clicked a lot of things into place for me. It was a very surprising experience, to say the least. I have discussed this in other posts in this series, but I will mention it again. I discovered my Soul Origins during a very powerful Kundalini Awakening! This led to a great shock, given that I felt deeply that this knowledge was very true, but I did not at the time know that others also had experiences and knowledge of their own Incarnated Mermaid natures. Once I did some research, I realized that I was not alone, and that assured me that not only was this real, but it also was something I had been meant to learn to understand myself better! Honestly, learning my Soul Origins allowed me to be more confident that there were reasons that I always felt so different, and it further solidified me on my path.
So, back to the topic at hand, one of the things that truly clicked into place for me was just how much my personality make-up reflected my Incarnated Mermaid Soul. I had known that I had a deep connection to the Creatrix Archetype, often called the Lover, the Enchantress, and in Jean Shinoda Bolen’s Goddesses in Everywoman, the Aphrodite Archetype. Actually, reading Bolen’s book for the first time was a lightning strike moment of clarity, knowing that this was the primary archetype active in my personality from birth, and also enlightening me on the other archetypes active in my personality. That being said, I knew about my connection with this potently creative and sensual archetype for years before my Kundalini Awakening, and I had been actively doing archetype work already. So, it made so much sense to me that a woman with a deep connection to the Creatrix, to the energy of the muse and artist, looking to create and holding this Alchemical energy of creation, would not be entirely human!
Beyond the Creatrix Archetype alone, I think that the fact that my secondary archetype active within my personality is the Maiden also holds resonance. This interplay between the sensual Creatrix and the innocent Maiden quite nicely reflects much of what we think of in Mermaids. They are playful, sensual, loving, sexual, and even can be pure as the Water herself!
So, while I cannot speak for other Incarnated Mermaids, I can say that a connection to the Creatrix Archetype is something that is deeply intertwined with my Mermaid Soul. I hope you have enjoyed reading this short and meditative look at the connection between the Creatrix and Incarnated Mermaids. Do you work with archetypes in your own magickal practice, or even just to better understand yourself? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
