The Heights and the Grange: A Poem

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s blog post, I am sharing a poem I have written about my love for Wuthering Heights.   So, this will be my last Wuthering Heights-related post for a while, but given my love for the novel, I just could not help but extend Wuthering Heights Week for two extra days!

The Heights and the Grange

by Maranda Wabik

Oh, take me to the Misty Moors

Oh, take me to Wuthering Heights

Let me see Thrushcross Grange

Let me live at Wuthering Heights

I want to see the heather and heath dance in the wind

I want to play at Penistone Crags

I want to feel the tumultuous air around me

Oh, take me to Wuthering Heights

I want to walk in the Garden of the Grange

I want to dance on the Misty Moors

I want to be at Wuthering Heights

Ah, but ’tis a place of fiction

Yet, a place that lives in my heart

So, I will read and re-read

Feeling myself lost in the atmosphere of the Heights

Feeling myself exploring the Grange

Allowing myself to live at Wuthering Heights

When I just turn the page

For that is how I can visit this landscape I love

Through my imagination and the words of Emily Brontë

Oh, yes, take me back to Wuthering Heights

Time and again

Year after year

Visiting my old friends Cathy and Heathcliff

Learning more about myself

Through exploring the story

Finding new beauty with each read

Oh, yes, take me back to Wuthering Heights

As I open the book

As I turn the page!

~I hope you have enjoyed this poem.   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
