Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s post, I am announcing that Love Week 2026, my annual theme week to celebrate love in the lead up to Valentine’s Day, begins tomorrow! As has become my tradition, I have chosen a more specific theme.
This year’s theme is Wuthering Heights! That is right, this year, I will be doing seven days devoted to one of my all-time favorite novels, and just in time for the Emerald Fennel film adaptation, which has its wide release on Friday. I know that the Emerald Fennel film is already controversial, and it has not even had its wide release yet! However, I will reserve judgment until I have actually seen the film. That being said, I have not had the overly strong and overly negative feelings about the production of the film that many other Wuthering Heights fans seem to have had. I am also glad that the early screening and world premieres seem to have received a lot of positive feedback about the film. I, for one, am totally okay with a film being a very loose adaptation, as the novel is very dense and difficult to adapt. A good movie, a good adaptation, need not always be book-accurate. But, as I already said, I will reserve any sort of judgment until I have seen the film. Let’s just say, I am cautiously hopeful, and even a bit optimistic, that the film is better than the hate filled virtriol it is receiving from many fans of the novel, but only time will tell!
Now that I have discussed why I am timing this theme week like I am, I want to discuss why I want to do a whole week devoted to Wuthering Heights. I have wanted to do an entire week devoted to this novel, as it is my favorite novel of the whole 19th Century, for a long time. So, I am very excited to have this love week devoted to the dark romance and tragic passions of Catherine and Heathcliff! For Wuthering Heights Week, you can expect more in-depth deep dives into the narrative, looking at the novel through various lenses. You see, I have already written about the novel on several occasions here, so I want to give some fresh insights in the posts this week. I will even be doing some writing this week about my relationship with the novel and expanding on a theory I have been developing on the book over the last few years.
I hope that you will join me on this journey to the Misty Moors of Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange this week! I will also link my previous posts about the novel below. Are you excited to read a week of Wuthering Heights-related posts? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
