The Queen of Cups & The Knight of Cups: Learning to Follow Your Heart

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For this week’s Tarot Thursday post, I will be discussing the Knight of Cups and the Queen of Cups.   In particular, I will be discussing how their energies, especially when combined, are an invitation to follow your heart’s desire and listen to your intuition!

I call the Knight of Cups the ultimate card of following your heart, given that Knights in Tarot are action-oriented cards.  That means that the Knight of the Water element suit is the Knight whose actions are going to come from a place of emotional resonance.   I call the Queen of Cups the Double Water card, given that most Tarot Readers agree that Queens are associated with the Water element.   That means that the Queen of the Water element suit is a doubly Watery energy!

Now, just like with any other pairing of Queen and Knight, we can view the two as lovers and helpmates.   The Knight of Cups is the Champion of the Queen of Cups, going on his heartfelt Quests in honor of the Queen!   In the case of the Queen of Cups herself, she can also act as a guiding dream or vision.   The appearance of the Queen of Cups in a reading can denote the time to let your intuition be your guide, to let the energy of the Queen of Cups point you in the right direction.   So, with all that being said, we can look at the Queen of Cups as the one guiding the Knight of Cups on his Quest; she is his heart’s desire and driving force!

What happens if we think of the Queen of Cups and the Knight of Cups working in tandem?   The opportunity arises to ride off on a Soul Quest to follow the heart’s truest desire!   As long as your heart and your intuition are aligned, the Soul Quest, following the Queen of Cups and the Knight of Cups, is one that may just allow for a multitude of growth.   I find that the combined energy of these very emotionally resonant, romantic, and intuitive cards to be quite magickal.

Now, you may wonder how to work with both of these energies at the same time.   I would recommend meditating on both cards and how their energies interplay.   It is also a good idea to journal about your feelings towards the cards, and learn what the intertwined energies of the Water element Queen and Knight mean to you on a personal level.   Finally, creating a spell or ritual utilizing the intentions of following your heart, and any other intentions that come through when you get to know your relationship to each card, would be an ideal way to truly integrate what you have learned!   At the end of the day, there is no singular right way to make a connection to any Tarot card or archetype.   As long as you seek to develop a relationship with that card, or in this case duo of cards, so many insights may come your way.

I hope that you have enjoyed this short meditative look at working with the Queen of Cups and Knight of Cups to aid in following your heart.   What do you find to be the most potent energy held by these two cards when they are worked with in tandem?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
