Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s blog post, I am sharing a poem about snow falling on the Isle of Glass, as Ynys Witrin is another name for Avalon!
Snowflakes and the Isle of Glass
by Maranda Wabik
Snow falls in a blanket on the shores of the Isle
Sparkling flakes piling one on top another
The white blanket of snow begins to shine
The icy beauty exemplifies the name
Isle of Glass
Oh, this Sacred Isle of Healing
She is Avalon,
She was known as Ynys Afallon in Old Wales
Oh, but the Holy Isle is also
Called Ynys Witren in Old Wales
A Sacred name of Avalon
A name that means the Isle of Glass
Such an ideal name for Avalon in the Winter
Avalon, when she is blanketed with Snow
Oh, how the flakes fly,
Carried on by the wind,
Picked up by the air
As the winds of change are on the horizon
The clean, bright, and white snow
Shows the pristine beauty of ice
A sense of calmness and peace,
Overwhelms the senses
Oh, how the snow piles up
Oh, how the snow brings in a cleansing energy
Of true synergy with nature!
