Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For this week’s Siren Saturday, I have decided to share the third entry in my Incarnated Mermaid Diaries series. Today’s topic is Finding Purpose Through Service. I find that helping others is a calling, from deep within my Watery Soul, and I think this may be something that other Incarnated Mermaids share. Of course, finding purpose through service is not specific to Souls who do not originate as humans, so I hope some of the insights below will aid anyone who feels the call to help others! Without further ado, let’s get into the topic at hand.
So, what exactly is the process of figuring out just how being of service to others may be a calling for you? I think it really begins with a lot of time spent Scrying the Mirror of the Soul, going within, and listening to your Inner Voice. There will be insights that will bubble up from the depths of your unconscious, and break like waves upon your conscious mind. At least, that is how I experience this as an Incarnated Mermaid. Once you have been in clear communication with yourself, you can begin to realize where you may desire to be of service to others.
In my case, I have always felt a deep desire to aid others, largely centered in my deeply empathic nature (which I spoke about in more depth in the first post in this series two weeks ago). That has led me to be in several service-oriented positions, beginning with tutoring in school and service-oriented day jobs in the mundane world. I have been a waitress, a preschool teacher, worked the circulation desk at a library, answered phones in a call center, and clerked at a thrift store! All of these jobs have something in common, and that is the need for communication skills and kindness. So, yes, I worked these jobs in the regular, mundane world, and I often had to deal with people taking out their anger and annoyance on me, even when I was not the one who caused an issue. Beyond this being a great way to learn more about myself and how I interact with people, gaining a lot of self-knowledge, these types of jobs played directly into my desire to help others.
However, that was never enough, as I was only aiding people in their day-to-day lives. My Mermaid Soul was calling me to do something more, to be of service not just to people, but also to the Goddesses, the Faery Queens, the Faery Realms, Mother Earth, and Avalon! That is what led me to begin my blog here at White Rose of Avalon, and to slowly grow this platform into my Priestess Business, where I offer Metaphysical Services and teach online classes. In my case, I have found purpose through service, by learning about myself, learning about the world around me, and learning about other people (I even have an Associate’s Degree in Psychology). However, most importantly, using my empathy and my desire to help others has allowed me to be of service on a larger scale than ever before!
The deep and abiding empathy that I have, and that is very common for Incarnated Mermaids, is definitely what has led me on the path to be the Enchantress of Avalon and an Avalonian Water Priestess. I have cultivated my connection with the Priestess Archetype, fully embodying this energy, while also having a flair that comes from my connection with and embodiment of the Creatrix, the Maiden, and the Queen Archetypes. You see, the Creatrix, Maiden, and Queen are the primary, secondary, and tertiary archetypes naturally present in my personality, respectively. This fusion of archetypal energy, that is the signature of my Priestess style, is deeply rooted in my Mermaid Soul and in my understanding of myself. With this self-understanding, learned over time and with great trial and error, I can see quite clearly where I can best be of service to others. At the end of the day, I cannot be more grateful for just how much beauty I have found, and how much positive impact I have had on the lives of my clients, students, and friends, by fully embracing my calling as a Priestess, and the true calling of my Mermaid Soul!
