Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s final Tarot Tuesday post of 2025, I will be discussing what cards may represent the coming year of 2026. 2025 was considered the Tarot Year of the Hermit, which I wrote about at this time last year, but the numerology of 2026 is a little less clear. 2+0+2+6 equals out to 10, which should further break down to 1 (1+0=1), making it the year of the Magician, the first numbered card of the Major Arcana. Yet, some are still stating the Wheel of Fortune, the tenth card of the Major Arcana, as this year’s card. And others may even be coming up with other cards to represent this coming year’s energy.
For this post, I will explore some of my thoughts and how we can work with the energies of both the Magician and the Wheel of the Year, if we so wish! I will also link an article below from another Tarot Reader with information about how you can find your personal Tarot energy for 2026 using numerology, as I found the article fascinating. Now, without further ado, let’s look at some of the Tarot energy that may be present in 2026!
Now, clearly, this type of energy of following the numerology to align with the Tarot is something that can cause some confusion, again due to whether or not we look at this based on a nine or ten-year cycle. Of course, being that I come from an Avalonian perspective, I like the idea of nine-year cycles, and I like the energy of breaking numerology down into a single digit. However, I see the validity in both, which is what I want to explore in this post.
If we go with the nine-year cycle, the Hermit and year of 2025 is the end of that cycle, meaning that we will begin anew again in 2026, which to me just feels right. The Magician is the Master of Manifestation, making him an ideal energy to begin a cycle with. He is there to begin the process of Alchemizing new growth patterns after the end of that nine-year cycle! If we go with the ten-year cycle, there is one more year to go, the tenth year, represented by the tenth card of the Major Arcana. This would make 2026 a year of culmination and possible triumph, especially since the Wheel of Fortune is often seen as a card of the upturn of the cycle and blessings coming to fruition, which I also love as an energy to welcome a New Year in with.
However, I think that the most potent way to view the Wheel of Fortune card is as a reminder of the endlessly turning wheel of fate and fortune. All things increase, wane, change, and end in their due time. If we view the Wheel of Fortune as a card of cycles, we are reminded that we should value the good times when they last instead of merely taking them for granted, and that the hard times will not last forever. In my personal practice, this is how I view the Wheel of Fortune card, as it is to me the card that exemplifies Anne Boleyn’s Coronation Motto: La Plus Heureuse, or The Most Happy. For she was at her absolute happiest when she chose the Motto, but her fortunes would be flipped entirely in a tragic twist of fate. This Motto is close to my heart, as La Plus Heureuse reminds me that I must truly value the good times and the positive events of my life, never taking them for granted, and that by doing this, I can also prepare myself to weather the storms of the hard times in life! Yes, that is exactly how I feel about the Wheel of Fortune card, too.
So, while I prefer to look at Tarot through the numerology of a nine-year cycle, I do find a lot of depth with the idea of aligning with the Wheel of Fortune card in 2026, as well. That brings into mind what I discussed above, that we can work with both the Magician and his Master of Manifestation energy to call forth new transformation and blessings as the nine-year cycle begins again, while also incorporating the wisdom of the endless cycle of the Wheel of Fortune card as we navigate 2026. Maybe that is the true value of this year, where there is no clean-cut numerology answer to the Tarot card whose energy is most pronounced. It means that we can find our own answers and incorporate the energy of several cards to Alchemize the greatest changes as we navigate a New Year!
I hope you have enjoyed this post examining the Tarot energy of 2026. What card do you think is most energetically aligned with 2026? Do you prefer a ten-year cycle, or, like me, do you prefer a nine-year cycle? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
