Dancing with the Ice Fae: A Poem

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s blog post, I am sharing a poem about Wintery Fae!

Dancing with the Ice Fae

by Maranda Wabik

Sparkling of the Icesicles

Bite of the cold Frost

Feel of the Snow upon my face

Ah, this is the call of the Ice Fae

In the cold of Winter

In the dark of Night

In Winter’s Icy Plight

The Ice Fae are here

To abate the fear

For they are the representatives

Of the Ice and Snow

Wanting to remind us how to grow

Enjoying the time spent with loved ones

During the Dark Half of the Year

Will aid in facing the cold weather with little fear

The Ice Fae may seem harsh

But they are here to teach us lessons

About the Cycles of the Seasons

And about valuing those who hold a special place in our hearts

Those from whom we wish not to part!

~I hope you have enjoyed this poem.   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

  1. What a beautiful and evocative poem, Maranda! Thank you for sharing it with us today.

“Dancing with the Ice Fae” perfectly captures the dual nature of winter—the “bite of the cold Frost” paired with the “sparkling of the Icesicles.” You’ve done a wonderful job personifying the season as wise, if stern, teachers. The idea that the Ice Fae are not just present in the cold, but are there to “abate the fear” and remind us of growth, cycles, and cherished time with loved ones is truly heartwarming.

    I especially love the lines:
“Wanting to remind us how to grow / Enjoying the time spent with loved ones…”

It’s a potent reminder that the “Dark Half of the Year” isn’t about barrenness, but about turning inward, celebrating connection, and gathering strength. The poem transforms the winter landscape from something simply harsh into a sacred, instructional space guided by these ethereal representatives.

It left me feeling thoughtful and appreciative of this season’s unique magic. Thank you for this lovely gift of words, Maranda!🌷🤝
