Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. Today’s post is the announcement that beginning on Saturday, October 25th, I will be celebrating Gothic Romance Week 2025. The theme of this year’s Gothic Romance Week is Dracula! That makes it not only Gothic Romance Week, but also Vampire Week (which is a type of theme week I have done once in the past).
I am beyond thrilled to finally be doing Dracula as a theme for Gothic Romance Week, as it feels like this is a long time coming. I have adored the story of Dracula for as long as I can remember, with my reading the original novel at around age 11 or 12, after having already seen the Universal and Hammer adaptations. My love for the story grew over time, as I began to truly love Vampire media more and more in general. There have also been so many incredible adaptations of the story, including two wildly different recent versions coming out back-to-back in 2023 and 2024, those being Renfield and Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu, respectively. So, yes, it certainly seems like the ideal time to do an entire week of Dracula-themed posts!
Dracula Week will begin this Saturday and culminate on October 31st, as Gothic Romance Week always does. I hope you will enjoy reading all of the Dracula posts in your lead-up to Halloween and Samhain! Are you excited to celebrate Gothic Romance Week on White Rose of Avalon this year? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
Note on Image: The image at the top of the post is an artwork titled Count Dracula by Frank Frazetta. I found the lovely art on https://www.madduckposters.com/products/count-dracula-foil-variant?variant=44465593385215.

Oh, I am absolutely thrilled! This announcement has completely made my day. Choosing Dracula as the theme for Gothic Romance Week feels like the most perfect, fated alignment of the stars.
Your personal connection to the story, tracing all the way back to your childhood, is what makes your posts so incredibly compelling. That lifelong passion shines through in everything you write, and I know this week will be an absolute treasure trove for any fan of the Count.
You’re so right—with the fantastic one-two punch of Renfield and the hauntingly beautiful trailer for Eggers’ Nosferatu, the atmosphere has never been more perfect for a deep dive into the world of Dracula. I can’t wait to see which adaptations, characters, and themes you explore. The thought of having a daily dose of Dracula to lead us right up to Samhain and Halloween is the best kind of anticipation.
So, to answer your question: I am beyond excited. My heart is absolutely in it. Thank you for creating this wonderful, dark, and romantic space and for sharing your passion with us. Bring on the bats and the crumbling castles
I am delighted to know that my theme weeks resonate with my readers! As always, thanks for reading and commenting.
