Embracing the Serpentine Siren During the Dark Half of the Year

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s Siren Saturday post, I will be discussing Embracing the Serpentine Siren for the Dark Half of the Year!   With all of my studies of Sidereal and Vedic Astrology, and my teaching of the Melusine Mysteries this year, I have been really thinking about the energy of the Serpentine Siren more and more.   That is what has truly inspired this post about Embracing the Serpentine Siren energy as we delve deeper into the Dark Half of the Year.

I have written a lot about my continued studies of Sidereal and Vedic Astrology in previous posts, but for those who may not have read my earlier posts, I will state that in Sidereal Astrology, I am a Cancer Rising, and more specifically in Vedic Astrology, my Ascendant falls into Ashlesha Nakshatra.   Obviously, Cancer is the Cardinal Water Sign of Astrology, which falls right in line with Mermaid and Siren energy, generally speaking.   Ashlesha Nakshatra is a Lunar Mansion that falls in the sign of Cancer, and Ashlesha is also ruled by Water, with its symbol being the Coiled Serpent and its Deity being the Naga (or Naginis), which are Water Spirits.   As you can see, this shows my birth chart as having some powerfully Watery and Serpentine Energy!   Ashlesha is considered an inauspicious Nakshatra, due to the Coiled Serpent energy being associated with binding and restriction.   However, Ashlesha is also considered a Sacred Nakshatra due to the association between Ashlesha and Tantra and Kundalini energy.   This means that Ashlesha can bless those who are able to sate Ashlesha, causing the Serpent to uncoil and slither up the spine, alighting each Chakra along the way, causing a Kundalini Awakening!   Beyond this, Ashelsha Natives are often gifted with Psychic abilities and work in the Spiritual spheres, which I can definitely relate to.

In the case of Melusine, I have been working with Melusine spiritually for many years, and I am a Priestess of Melusine, which is why I have created the Melusine Mysteries to share her arcane wisdom, occult knowledge, and Mermaid Magick with my students!   If you are unfamiliar with Melusine as a Faery Queen and Mermaid Goddess of Avalon, you may not know how she relates to Serpentine energy.   You see, beyond being a Mermaid who tended a Sacred Fountain in the Forest before marrying her husband, Raymond, Melusine’s Mermaid form is often stated to be Serpentine in nature!   This is especially true in the oldest versions of the legend, as in the Jean d’Arras telling (the oldest written form of Melusine’s legend we have), where Melusine’s Mermaid tail is vividly described as being a Serpent’s tail.   Actually, Melusine is the inspiration for the idea of Siren Saturdays here on White Rose of Avalon, as she is the original Saturday Siren, because she spends each Saturday in her Mermaid form according to her legend!

Now that I have gone over why the Serpentine Siren is an energy that I have been feeling more and more called to work with, let’s look at some ways to Embrace the Serpentine Siren!   One of my favorite ways to work with the Serpentine Siren is to dance.   This can be a choreographed dance that you have developed and are dancing in devotion to the Mermaids and Mermaid Goddesses.   This can also be just dancing as you allow the music to wash over your body.   But, the most important part is to be moving in a very fluid and slithering snake-like way as you dance!   Another favorite way to Embrace the Serpentine Siren is to work with Bath Magick.   To be honest, Bath Magick is one of my absolute favorite types of Magick or Ritual, as I just feel so at home when I am immersed in the Water.   For a very Serpentine Siren take on Bath Magick, using Serpent imagery and Serpentine sounding music during the Ritual is ideal.   A third and final way I will mention to embrace the Serpentine Siren is to Scry, this can be either Water Scrying or Mirror Scrying, whichever you prefer.   I suggest having the idea of connecting with the Serpentine Siren energy firmly in your mind as you begin Scrying, and see what comes up!

I hope that you have enjoyed this look at some ways to Embrace the Serpentine Siren for the Dark Half of the Year.   What is your relationship with the Serpentine Siren?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

  1. What a truly mesmerizing and deeply insightful post for this Siren Saturday. You have woven together the threads of Sidereal astrology, Vedic wisdom, and the enchanting lore of Melusine so beautifully.

Your personal connection to this energy is palpable and incredibly inspiring. To learn that your Ascendant falls in Ashlesha Nakshatra—the Coiled Serpent—feels like a powerful key to understanding the profound depth of your work. The way you reframe its potential from “binding and restriction” to the sacred, transformative power of Kundalini awakening is a testament to your mastery. It makes perfect sense that an Ashlesha native, gifted with psychic abilities and walking a spiritual path, would be the one to channel and teach the Melusine Mysteries.

The connection you’ve drawn to Melusine is nothing short of brilliant. The fact that her most ancient form is described as having a serpent’s tail completely recontextualizes her energy, merging the fluidity of the mermaid with the primal, chthonic power of the serpent. She is not just a siren of the waves, but a siren of the deep earth and the rising Kundalini force. She is the ultimate Serpentine Siren, and knowing she is the original inspiration for your Siren Saturdays adds a whole new layer of sacred significance to your work.

Your practical suggestions for embracing this energy are perfect:

    · The dance as a moving meditation, allowing the body to become a conduit for that fluid, slithering life force, is a beautiful way to physically embody the archetype.
    · Bath Magick is the quintessential ritual for a Water sign and a Priestess of Melusine. Infusing it with serpentine imagery and sounds makes it a potent alchemical bath for awakening that coiled energy.
    · Scrying as a means to peer into the veil and communicate directly with the essence of the Serpentine Siren feels like the most direct and mystical method of all. It is the perfect practice for the introspective Dark Half of the Year.

Thank you for sharing this arcane wisdom and for guiding us to connect with this potent, transformative energy. You are a true beacon, helping the serpent uncoil and rise within all of us who are drawn to your light.

    • Thank you so much for your kind words. It really means so much to me to know that my work resonates with people! I have to agree that I do not believe it is mere chance that my Sidereal and Vedic charts would be what they are, as everything seems to be truly aligned for the Spiritual Path I am walking. As always, thanks for reading and commenting.
