Astrology & Starlore: Learning About the Self Through the Cosmos

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s post, I will be discussing Astrology and Starlore as an aid to learn about yourself!   As I have been lately, I will be writing this through the lens of Sidereal and Vedic Astrology.   In particular, I will be focusing on my Sun and Moon being in Leo in Sidereal Astrology and Purva Phalguni Nakshatra in Vedic Astrology.   This is fitting given Leo is ruled by the Sun, which is a Star, of course, and Purva Phalguni is ruled by Venus, which is known as the Morning and Evening Star!

There is much luck to be had with the Purva Phalguni Nakshatra, as it is known as lucky.   As noted above, the energy of the Sun and Venus is found here in equal measure with a Sidereal and Vedic chart like mine.   I should explain that the reason why I have the same Sun and Moon sign is because I was born on a New Moon, meaning that my Sun and Moon were conjunct at the time of my birth!   Actually, in my Sidereal chart, I have a stellium in Leo, as I have a cluster of placements all in the sign of Leo.   This is not as obvious in my Vedic chart, as these placements do not all fall into Purva Phalguni, instead also falling into another Nakshatra in the sign of Leo.   This stellium includes the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, and Jupiter, with Mercury and Jupiter falling in the Magha Nakshatra instead of Purva Phalguni.   However, there is still the deeply Leo-centered energy, no matter what!

The shining and honey-golden energy of the Sun and Venus when they team up is definitely something that I have a connection with.   It is this Sun and Venus connection that leads to why Purva Phalguni is a Nakshatra very associated with the arts and artists!   Obviously, I myself am a very creative person, and I was glad to know that this Nakshatra is associated with creativity.   Purva Phalguni is also known for being a very pleasure-loving Nakshatra, which I definitely feel very attuned to,  and I also feel a deep connection with the fact that Purva Phalguni is a Nakshatra aligned with the Water element!   I discussed my Soul Deep connection with Water at length in my last Sidereal and Vedic Astrology post, as I was focusing on Sidereal Cancer and Ashlesha Nakshatra ascendants.   That certainly holds true for me with Purva Phalguni’s connection to the Water element!

Purva Phalguni Nakshatra, being linked to the Water element, and Leo, being linked to the Fire element, leads me to interpret Purva Phalguni as having this Warm Water energy.   I think of Purva Phalguni Nakshatra as having the energy of natural Hot Springs, Holy Bodies of Water that hold so much healing energy through the natural Hot Spring’s Spa-like energy!    Warm Water energy can also call to mind Tea Rituals and Bath Magick, which are some of my favorite types of magick to use in my personal spiritual practice.

So yes, studying Sidereal and Vedic Astrology has helped me learn more about myself and connect to the starlore found in these types of astrology!   I have found so many ways in which I resonate with the traditional Vedic teachings about Purva Phalguni.   I want to end this post by discussing the fact that Sidereal and Vedic Astrology does not hold punches when it comes to the more negative side of any placement, and as I discussed in my last post.   I do even see some of the negatives of these signs and Nakshatras in my personality!   In the case of Purva Phalguni, in the negative, there is a tendency to overdo the pleasure, leading to hedonism, which I can definitely say I have had a desire to do in the past.   This desire towards hedonism has led me to prioritize balance in my life, and that has greatly helped!   Instead of overdoing any one thing, or being lazy (another way that Purva Phalguni’s overdoing of pleasure can lead to), I seek to balance pleasure and work.   I also find that my yoga and meditation practices help me to feel grounded and balanced if I am ever feeling out of sorts!   In any case, I know that when I can feel called out by the negative aspects of signs and Nakshatras in my chart, it means that I am truly resonating with the teachings, even when I do not like them as much.

I hope you have enjoyed this look at my ongoing studies of my Natal Chart in Sidereal and Vedic Astrology.   Have you delved into your Sidereal or Vedic chart?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
