Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For this week’s Femme Fatale Friday blog post, the topic is the beauty and power of the Mermaid Queen Archetype!  It is quite obvious that when I call this the Mermaid Queen Archetype, I am describing an archetype that is a balance of the Mermaid and the Queen archetypes.

The Mermaid Archetype is very much in line with the Creatrix and Lover Archetypes, with some hints of the Maiden.   The Creatrix and Lover energy is most obvious, as she is quite literally a being full of sexual allure, desired by many.   The Maiden energy comes in with the more innocent side of the Mermaid, the playful side, but this aspect may not be as present if the Mermaid is more of a dangerous Siren!   Now, when we add in the Queen energy to balance the Mermaid energy, we get a Queen who is supremely sensual, a little bit playful, and the ruler of the Sea.   

It is an interesting combination to have in an archetype, as the playful energy of the Mermaid is going to become slightly matured, so that this Maiden is far from the victim or Princess energy.   This is a Maiden Mermaid who is playful and sexual, yes, but she is fully seated in her own Sovereignty!   She is the Mermaid who is delighted to be unabashedly herself.

As far as what type of Mermaid most fits this Mermaid Queen Archetype, I have to look to the Selkie for possessing the most obvious link to this Sovereign Mermaid Queen.   After all, we can look at this Mermaid Queen Archetype as one of living in your Authenticity, and Selkies represent that energy better than any other Mermaid!   Although the Selkie begins her story by having her Seal Skin stolen and being forced to marry the man who possesses her skin, this is only the beginning.   She becomes a good Wife and a good Mother to the children that she bears for her husband.   The Selkie does her utmost to hold her head high and endure all of the trials and tribulations that come her way.   Once her Seal Skin is rediscovered, it is time for the Selkie to return home!

That is the crux of the matter when it comes to embracing your inner Mermaid Queen, to truly be your most Authentic and Sovereign self.   Speaking your truth with your head held high is one of the supreme lessons that can be learned from the Mermaid Queen energy!   I hope that you have enjoyed reading this short post, looking at the beauty of the Mermaid Queen Archetype!   What is your favorite aspect of the Mermaid Queen?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
