Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For this week’s Femme Fatale Friday blog post, I will be discussing how I have been working to embrace my Sidereal Ascendant as a Cancerian Woman! It is something that I have been really thinking about a lot lately, as I have been delving ever deeper into my studies of Sidereal Astrology. Studying Sidereal and Vedic Astrology has been a large part of my spiritual studies this year, as far as learning new things goes.
Water has always been the primary element with which I felt a truly profound connection, although when I first began my herbalism studies, I also found a deeper connection with the Earth element. However, that Earth connection was still never as profound as Water, even if I thought it was for a short time; I know this was the newness of that connection. When I found out my Soul Origins, which is that I am an Incarnated Mermaid, it made so much sense that I had always felt this Soul Deep Connection with Water. All of this being said, I have never understood why my Tropical Astrology chart was not Water-heavy. Before I began my studies of Sidereal and Vedic Astrology, I assumed that my chart lacked Water, meaning that my attraction to the element was a way of balancing out my chart.
However, once I found out that my Ascendant is in Cancer in Sidereal, I realized that this made so much more sense than my Tropical chart did. While I am still someone who believes that there is validity in both Sidereal and Tropical Astrology, as they both can teach us lessons, I find that for me, Sidereal Astrology and Vedic Astrology hold so much more depth and so much more alignment with my personality. This makes sense to me, as Sidereal Astrology relies on a much more precise calculation of the Stars and Constellations. The Tropical Astrology calculations are based on the Solstices and Equinoxes, so they are based more on the Sun than the Stars or the Moon. Tropical calculations also do not take into account what is called the Precession of the Equinoxes, meaning that the true Equinoxes change slowly over time (so that means that the Tropical calculations are inexact, as they have not changed since Tropical Astrology was first put into use nearly 2000 years ago). That is why many Sidereal Astrologers state that Sidereal is more accurate, and for me in my life, this has been pretty true. But, I am not one to hate on Tropical Astrology, as I know many people find so much comfort in this more common system of calculations.
In Sidereal Astrology, just like in Tropical, the most important aspect is your Ascendant, as it shows your houses, relates to how you present yourself in the world, and designates your chart’s ruling planet. This differs slightly from Vedic Astrology, which puts the major emphasis on the Moon Nakshatra. So, my Cancer Ascendant shows that my Sidereal chart is ruled by the Moon. This means that my chart is not only ruled by Water, but also deeply connected to the phases and changes of the Moon herself. Cancer is an energy of a deeply Feminine nature, nurturing, and Emotions. As a Cancer grows in maturity, they become incredibly emotionally intelligent, which I can definitely relate to as I look back at my immature self versus who I have evolved into! When I was younger, I definitely can see how I may have hidden my emotions behind a colder exterior, while being very emotional and crying easily when I was alone (which is often said of Cancers who are immature). Immature Cancers are often thought of as innocent and even like to be babied, but again, this is something that can be grown out of, sort of like the Persephone Archetype as she matures, in fact, the mature Cancer Ascendant seems to have a lot in common with the balance of the Aphrodite and Persephone Archetypes, which most definitely strikes a cord with me. Of course, with maturity, I have delved deeper into my sentimental, nurturing, and deeply intuitive nature.
Speaking of Intuition, Cancers are also known for their deeply psychic natures. This is another thing that truly resonates with me, especially as a Priestess and Enchantress. I love the energy of Cancer, especially with all of the Cancerian emotional intelligence and psychic energy. Plus, I have always had a deep connection to the Moon and her phases, often gazing at the Moon throughout my childhood. I still Moon gaze and perform Moon magick regularly, which is always enhanced by adding Watery energy to Moon magick!
I hope you have enjoyed this exploration of my connection to my Sidereal Cancer Ascendant. Do you know your Sidereal Ascendant? Do you find Sidereal Astrology to have a deep impact on your life, or do you prefer Tropical Astrology? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Yep! Sidereal Astrology is much more about me, much deeper than tropical !
I definitely agree! But I don’t discredit Tropical, as there is use to it, and some people prefer it. To each their own. Thanks for reading and commenting!
