Swimming in the Seas of Ys: A Poem

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s blog post, I am sharing a poem about the Drowned City of Ys!

Swimming in the Seas of Ys

by Maranda Wabik

Waters raging all around my head

Feeling overcome by the emotional tides

The City of Ys is falling fast

The Waters are becoming filled with dread

Emotions are flaring like carnival rides

Looking for a ship’s mast

Hoping for a place to be given a bed

Ys is drowning like the prophecy of Ides

Oh, how swimming in the Seas of Ys is a window to the past

The Princess Dahut’s life was not to last

Thrown into the Sea

Worrying if she would ever be free

Now she is a Mari-Morgen

Swimming with me in the Seas of Ys

I no longer fear being in the raging waters

For I am not alone

With Mermaidenly Mari-Morgens by my side

Goodbye Ys, your story will not be forgotten!

~I hope you have enjoyed this poem about the drowning of the City of Ys.   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Note on Image: The image for this post is an artwork called Babonneau Ahes Dahud by Christophe Babonneau depicting Dahut, the Princess of Ys.   I found the art on https://journeyingtothegoddess.wordpress.com/2012/08/21/dahut-ahes/.
