The Queen of Swords and the Power of Steely Resolve

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s Tarot Thursday post, I will be discussing my growing relationship with the Queen of Swords Archetype!   I want to begin by stating that although the Queens of Tarot have long been energies that I have found myself drawn to, the Queen of Swords was the Queen to whom I sometimes had a rough time building a bond.

The Queen of Swords often felt to me like a very harsh and tough love energy, and I have always been a much softer and ultrafeminine person, being more drawn to the romantic and psychic energy of the Queen of Cups.   That being said, over time, I have grown to truly appreciate the Queen of Swords for all of her unique power.   She is the Queen who would never suffer fools, and she is not a Queen to cross.   The Queen of Swords can teach us so much about setting and maintaining firm boundaries, especially emotional boundaries, which many of us who possess more feminine energy naturally can struggle with.

While the Queen of Swords appears on the surface very regal and elegant, which she is, this is really a soft exterior to mask the backbone of steel the Queen possesses as well.   The Queen of Swords energy is diplomatic and pragmatic, but she is also very imaginative and creative.   Her energy is the combination of Water (as Queens are associated with Water) and Air (as the suit of Swords is associated with Air).   This means that she is not as analytical or strategic as the Knight or King of Swords, but she instead uses her strategic energy to combine with her emotional and creative side.   That is why I like to think of the Queen of Swords as the energy of Imaginative Thought!   She is the one who has inspired ideas and puts them into action in a creative way, making for a unique balance of the masculine and the feminine.

Her intensity, born from her strategic and analytical sides, is what can make her an energy that can seem a bit overpowering compared to the other Queens of Tarot.   However, just because she takes a more direct, steely, boundary-protecting, and tough love approach to her delivery of messages, it does not mean that she lacks nurturing energy.   She is, after all, still a Queen of Tarot, and the Queens are very nurturing.   The Queen of Swords simply finds that pushing us to new heights of power is what will truly aid us in growing.   I have come to realize that the Queen of Swords is truly nurturing our development into the best versions of ourselves with her tough love attitude!

I hope you have enjoyed reading a bit about my evolving relationship with the Queen of Swords Archetype.   What is your relationship with the Queen of Swords like?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
