Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s Mermaid Monday blog post, I will be discussing Lemuria, Atlantis, and their possible connection to Avalon!   

All three of these places are Islands with Magickal Lineages.   Lemuria is often seen to be the oldest, with much being said about residents of Lemuria finding refuge in Atlantis when Lemuria was destroyed.    Lemuria had magickal races on her shores, with likely the most famous being the Mer-people, who had the distinction of being able to shapeshift at will!    It is said that the scientists on Atlantis were very fascinated by this ability of the Mer-people of Lemuria to shapeshift, leading to tragic experiments.   In fact, these horrible atrocities performed by the scientists of Atlantis are sometimes the reason which is given for the eventual downfall of this Island!

While the Lemurian natives are almost always described as peaceful and quite gentle in nature, the same is clearly not true of all of the Atlantean natives.   That could be one of the reasons that the horrors I have related above were able to occur.    It is truly tragic to see great Aquatic nations meet such sad ends, whether due to disaster like Lemuria, or due to corruption and hubris like Atlantis!

Now, that brings us to Avalon, the Holy Isle known for healing and soothing the souls of the dead, being inhabited by Fae and Goddesses.   Avalon may seem to have little in common with Lemuria and Atlantis, as both were said to have been destroyed, while Avalon is known to be alive and well in the Otherworld.   However, they do have an obvious connection of being magickal Islands, as I mentioned at the beginning of the post.   Furthermore, Avalon is said to have possibly been a real place that existed in the human world before retreating fully into the Astral Realms of the Otherworld, becoming a Faeryland Island alone.   That is why so many places claim to be the real site of the ancient Isle of Avalon, most notably Glastonbury, England!

I like to think that Avalon could have become a refuge for those survivors of Lemuria and Atlantis who were looking for a new place to live, or even redemption for the sins they may have committed.   Avalon could have become the place to go to live in the Otherworld, away from the pain and the unknown of the human world.   Avalon could have been the place to go when you did not want to lose your ability to shapeshift between your Mermaid and humanoid forms for the Lemurians, for if they stayed in the human world, they would have had to retreat fully to the Seas.   Avalon could also have been a safe haven for those who were uncertain if they wanted to try their hands at living lives in human bodies, as incarnation as humans was definitely an option for Lemurian and Atlantean natives!

So, yes, I like to think that these three magickal Islands have a deep connection that we are still figuring out today through working with the energies of these lands.   I hope you have enjoyed reading my musings on this fascinating topic.   What do you think about Lemuria, Atlantis, and Avalon possibly being linked?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
