Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s blog post, I will be diving a little deeper into my Vedic Natal Chart! I find that Tropical and Sidereal Astrology have a lot to offer when it comes to learning about ourselves, and Vedic Astrology works in tandem with the basis of Sidereal placements to give so much added depth to the chart.
My Vedic chart has my Ascendant in Ashlesha (a Nakshatra found in Sidereal Cancer), and my Sun and Moon in Purva Phalguni (a Nakshatra found in Sidereal Leo). Given that my Moon is in Purva Phalguni, which is ruled by Venus, it makes Venus the ruler of my chart, as the highest point in the sky when I was born. Vedic Astrology puts a heavy focus on the Moon over the Sun, and that is part of why you look to your Moon Nakshatra’s ruler to find your chart ruler. In Tropical and Sidereal Astrology (when you are just using Sidereal and not factoring in Vedic Nakshatras), your chart ruler is the ruling planet of your Ascendant or Rising Sign! If we look at the more basic Sidereal chart, the Moon would rule my chart, with my Ascendant in Cancer, which is ruled by the Moon. Ashlesha is ruled by Mercury, adding some Mercurial energy to my Vedic chart.
Now, to make things even more interesting, both of these Sidereal and Vedic Natal charts of mine have a ton of Water in them. Obviously, Cancer is a Water sign for my Ascendant. However, each Nakshatra has an elemental association. Both Ashlesha and Purva Phalguni are Water Nakshatras! Given my incredibly profound ties to Water, I found all of this information to resonate with me on a deep level.
This also gives credence, in my opinion, to the idea that our Sidereal charts show important information about our Soul history, while Tropical charts only show information applicable to this incarnation. I know my Soul Origins are very Watery indeed, so this link to a very Watery Natal Chart makes a lot of sense to me! I think looking at Tropical and Sidereal Astrology in this way, with both having something to teach us, is a great way of showing that you can work with both systems if you choose to. Over time, I have really begun to gravitate more and more to Sidereal and Vedic Astrology, as I find that I resonate very deeply with the knowledge found within my charts in those systems even more than Tropical, but I still do not dismiss Tropical Astrology as having something to teach us! It is simply true for me that the more I dive into my Sidereal and Vedic Charts, especially when it comes to my Ascendant, Moon, and Sun Signs and Nakshatras, I find a deeper resonance to my life, my Soul, and my personality.
I hope you have enjoyed this short post about my continuing Sidereal and Vedic Astrology studies. What insights have you found in your Vedic or Sidereal charts? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
