Sea Animal Guardians

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s Mermaid Monday post, I am looking at some of my most beloved Aquatic Animal Guardians!   As usual for this type of post, I will be exploring each animal in their own small sections below.   Without further ado, let’s look at Sea Animal Guardians!

DOLPHIN

~Of course, I just had to begin with Dolphins.   I have had a deep and abiding love for Dolphins since I was a little girl.   I enjoyed watching films with Dolphins, seeing Dolphins at SeaWorld (when I was little), and collecting Dolphins.   I still have some jewelry with Dolphins and a lovely Dolphin suncatcher, but sadly, most of my other Dolphins I collected in childhood have been lost when I moved.   Dolphins are playful and loving, with a huge amount of empathy and intelligence!   Dolphins are caring and form amazing bonds with one another, and they can even form amazing bonds with humans who care for them.

MANATEE

~My other favorite Sea Animal in childhood was the Manatee!   I have so much love and a deep connection with these large and cuddly Sea Mammals.   When I was little, I saw a Manatee give birth at SeaWorld, which really made me all the more fascinated with these creatures.   Then, when I came to learn that many people believed that Manatees were the animals often sighted when sailors and pirates thought they saw Mermaids, I knew that these creatures were even more special!    I even led a group project in 4th grade when we were assigned to do a science project on animals; my group was assigned to choose an aquatic animal.   Of course, I insisted on doing Manatees, as they were not as commonly discussed as other Sea Animals!   Even though I ended up doing nearly all of the work, as the other kids did not care about Manatees (or doing a group project at all), I had a delightful time, and we all aced the project.   I have never ceased to feel a profound bond with Manatees, as they are gentle and very loving creatures.   They happily float in the Sea, and never seek to harm anyone!

SEAHORSE

~Seahorses are truly fascinating Sea Animals.   They are best known for their unique anatomy, with the males of the species being the ones to carry the babies.   This makes Seahorses an interesting animal to form a bond with when you are looking to find balance between the Masculine and the Feminine!

KRAKEN (OR ANY CEPHALOPOD)

~So, I had to use the term for the Giant Sea Monster version of a Cephalopod, the Kraken.   However, we can look at this Sea Animal Guardian as being any form of Cephalopod, including Squid, Octopus, Cuttlefish, and Nautilus.   These creatures are incredibly intelligent, with studies stating that if they lived longer than their short lifespans, they could easily take over the world from humans!   This makes them incredibly potent Sea Animals to make a spiritual bond with when you are looking to advance your knowledge.

WHALE

~I could not make this list without mentioning Whales.   Whales are so important when it comes to Sea Animals that humans find fascinating.   We have many tales of people becoming attached or obsessed with Whales, and we have many foundations that seek to protect Whales.   Whales are also attached to the darker history of Whaling (hunting Whales for their blubber, which could be used to create oil for lamps).   In a strange turn, there is also the old use of ambergris in perfume, and ambergris comes from the digestive system of Sperm Whales, which was another reason Whaling was once so popular.   Thankfully, we have moved on from hunting these beautiful creatures!   They are so intelligent and incredibly strong, which makes them ideal to work with energetically when you want to protect yourself.

JELLYFISH

~I really love Jellyfish, as they are so interesting.   With a fascinating way of defending themselves, via a sting, and bodies that are almost as fluid as Water herself!   Jellyfish can teach us so much about going with the flow, and never forgetting that even the softest of creatures can protect themselves.

SEA TURTLE

~Sea Turtles are so lovely.   I literally cry when I see videos of Sea Turtles hatching on the beach!   They have a shell that protects them from being harmed, which reminds us that when we feel unsafe or unsettled, it is a good idea to take a moment to retreat within the safety of our own personal cocoons.   Sea Turtles also remind us that sometimes we need to come out of our shells in order to truly grow!

SEAL

~Ah, my beloved Seals, another favorite Aquatic Animal of mine!   Ever since beginning to work with Selkies deeply, I have deepened my relationship with these beautiful animals.   Seals are so full of joy and very curious to learn about things.   Whenever we see videos of Seals seeing humans, they approach us with curiosity, and a thirst for knowledge and understanding.   That is what makes Selkie’s stories so sad, as her natural curiosity and desire to learn about humans turned sinister when she was forced to marry a human man against her will!

SHARK

~Finally, I have to end this post by mentioning Sharks.    Obviously, Sharks are a very powerful and dangerous animal in many ways.   Although the fear humans tend to feel when it comes to Sharks is often more extreme than it needs to be, these are definitely Sea Animals to approach with caution.   If you feel a desire to bond with Sharks, you can learn much from their power and how to tap into your own innate strengths!

~I hope you have enjoyed this look at Sea Animal Guardians.   What animals do you have the deepest bond with?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
