Saltwater and Sea Spray: A Poem

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s blog post, I am sharing a poem about the beauty of the beach.

Saltwater and Sea Spray

by Maranda Wabik

Standing at the shoreline

Feeling overcome by emotions sublime

The smell of Saltwater

Filling the air

The breeze rustling through my long hair

As the waves crash beneath my feet

I can feel the Sea Spray

Against my skin

Oh, how I wish my legs were a fin

Then I could swim in the Ocean

And be at one with the Mermaids

Who swim beneath the waves

That would be such a healing potion

It makes my Soul come to life

With joy and desires that are rife

Oh, maybe one day

I will be able to swim and play

In the Sea

With the Dolphins and Manatees as my friends

And the Mermaids as my Sisters!

~I hope you have enjoyed this poem.   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

  1. A very nice evocative poem. I’ll copy it out. It’s a keeper! I love poems to do with the sea: the allure and mystery of the sea. My favourite such poem is ‘The Sea Bell’ by J.R.R. Tolkien. My favourite piece of music to do with the sea is ‘Sea Drift’ by Delius, in which he sets a section of Walt Whitman’s poem, ‘Sea Drift’ to music. Both of these are wonderful and evocative.

    • I am so glad that my poem spoke to you so deeply! I also love the works of Tolkien and Whitman, as well as anything having to do with the Sea. Thanks for reading and commenting!
