Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s Siren Saturday post, I am sharing my review of the book Mermaid Magic by Lucy Cavendish and Serene Conneeley.   I have recently re-read this book, as I first read this one in 2019, so I have never reviewed it here.   As it may be obvious, I have been re-reading a good number of books that I originally read five to ten years ago lately, which is great because it allows me to finally write a review for books that I read prior to beginning this blog!

Now, this is the first book co-written by Lucy Cavendish and Serene Conneeley that I had ever read.   I have since also read the other two magic books they co-authored together.    It is likely not a surprise that I began with my reading of these books with the Mermaid one.   As I truly adore Mermaids, having a deep and abiding Soul Connection with them, and I am always looking to read all books I can find on the subject!

This book is great, as it has a bit of everything, from timelines of Mermaid lore to small sections written by other Mermaid authors to writings about Seashells and Marine Animals.   What I love most is that the book ends with a large section devoted to highlighting several Ocean and Marine Animal Conservation Organizations.   It warms my heart to know that the authors chose to promote not only other Mermaid authors and artists, but also organizations to protect Nature and our Waters!

The book is written in an almost conversational way, giving so much information and deep care to the topics at hand.   The tone of the book shows just how much the authors love Mermaids and the Ocean.   This book truly has a bit of everything for people who love Mermaids, as you get everything from folklore to magic to Mermaids in media!   I would highly recommend this book as a great jumping-off point for those wanting to get to learn more about Mermaids.   You will find so much in this book that will aid you in finding other things that you can study moving forward!
