Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s blog post, I wanted to share my experiences learning Seashell Divination! Now, there are different forms of Seashell Divination, with two of the most common being Throwing the Cowries and Conchomancy, but I will be discussing how I personally use Seashells in Divination, which is my own intuitive way of reading the Shells. My intuitive way of performing Seashell Divination is inspired by these other methods, which I researched before beginning to practice this Divinatory art. That being said, my form of Seashell Divination is the way that I felt called to perform and read the Shells. Without further ado, let’s get into performing Seashell Divination!
I have long been fascinated with Seashells in all of their glory and aquatic beauty for as long as I can remember. With my deep and abiding love and adoration for Mermaids and all forms of Water, it should not be a surprise that I love any form of Divination that has a Watery connection. I have been Water Scrying and Mirror Scrying for years now, and just recently, I have gotten around to working with Seashell Divination.
I have had my collection of Seashells, which I use for Divination, for a couple of years now, but they have lain on one of my altars ever since, with my intention of using Seashell Divination put aside. With my teaching the Melusine Mysteries, the idea of Seashell Divination came up, and I knew this was something that Melusine wanted me to incorporate into the third month of classes. That is when I began to Toss the Shells, Divining the Intuitive Insights that I found within the images I found in the Shells! I was very pleased with the results I received when I was using Seashell Divination.
So, to begin with, I cleansed my collection of Shells, nine small shells inside a larger shell (which I use to toss), with Mugwort Smoke and sprayed them with some saltwater. After I had cleansed and blessed the Shells, I was ready to begin seeking the insights from these aquatic friends. I used the larger shell to toss out the smaller shells onto a cloth (to cushion the shells from breaking on the table surface). When the Shells fell into patterns, I was able to gain insights from the pattern in which they fell, whether they were face-up or face-down, and other intuitive information that came to me when I gazed at the shells! I finished by journaling all of my insights from the Seashells, and I have been doing the same each time I perform Seashell Divination. My main focus when seeking information from the Seashells is the patterns I see within how they have fallen after being tossed, rather than if they are face-up or face-down (which is common with Seashell Divination), as to me, the patterns tell the story of the reading! I have found some interesting insights in the patterns of the Seashells during Divination, and that is how I intuitively read them. This is why I encourage you to find your own personal ways to work with each Divination method that you seek to learn.
I hope you have enjoyed this short look at Seashell Divination. Have you ever done Seashell Divination? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
