‘The Bee Tarot’ Deck Review

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   Today’s Tarot Thursday blog post is a review of The Bee Tarot by Kristoffer Hughes with art by Nadia Turner.    I got this deck as a gift from my amazing husband, Andrew, for our anniversary.   I am so grateful that he got me this amazing Tarot deck, as I already adore it!

As soon as I opened the package, I was overwhelmed by a sense of positive emotion and loving energy.   The design of this deck is beyond beautifully planned out and gorgeously illustrated.   I also really adore that the deck has a lovely texture to the cards, as they have a linen-like texture, which makes them shuffle beautifully!   I really appreciated the changes made to the Tarot cards to align them with Bees.   For instance, there is a reference to the old tradition of ‘telling the Bees’ when someone (especially their Beekeeper) has died, on the Five of Cups (in this deck called the Five of Jars, as a reference to honey) card.    This is an ideal way to represent the energy of this card, which is so focused on processing negative emotions!    As mentioned, the Cups suit is called the Jars suit (the only suit which has its name altered), and I definitely love this, as it is so perfect to represent honey in this way.   The High Priestess card is renamed The Melissae as a reference to the Bee Priestesses.    The Hierophant is renamed The Delphic Bee as a reference to the Oracle of Delphi being aligned with Bee energy.   It is such a lovely way to incorporate the energy of Bee Goddesses and Priestesses into this deck!

Finally, I want to mention that I adore that this deck is written by the great Kristoffer Hughes, and that he incorporated so much Welsh and British lore connected to Bees and Bee Priestesses along with the more commonly known Greek lore.   Nadia Turner is also an incredible artist, who I have adored the work of for years, as she also illustrated The Mists of Avalon Oracle.   This is truly my ideal Bee deck, with all of its hints to Avalon (subtle though they are) and its beauty.   As some of my regular readers may know, I have been deepening into Bee energy and working with the energy of the Melissae for some time now (but have always loved Bees), so this was the ideal deck for me to be gifted!   It has already become a fast favorite Tarot deck for me, and I cannot wait to use it for professional readings.   I will definitely be adding it to the options for my clients to choose from!

I hope you have enjoyed reading this glowing review of The Bee Tarot.   Clearly, I highly recommend this deck to anyone who loves Bees.   Are you interested in getting a reading with this deck?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
