Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For this week’s Femme Fatale Friday blog post, I have decided to discuss how to embrace the energy of the Celtic Venusian Melissae! I have been deepening into my connection with the Honeybees and the energy of Honey, in addition to my work with the Celtic Venusian Faery Queens. That is what has inspired this blog post. I will be going over some points in their own sections to explore this energy and just how the Celtic Venus and the Melissae are linked. Without further ado, let’s look at the Celtic Venusian Melissae!
GLASTONBURY GODDESS TEMPLE PRIESTESSES CALL THEMSELVES MELISSA
~This is the most obvious connection between Celtic Venusian energy and the Bee Priestesses. That is why I just had to begin this post by mentioning this fact. It proves to me that the energy of the Melissae truly has never been forgotten and was incredibly widespread in the ancient world. Of course, it should be no surprise that the Melissae made their way to Britain during the Roman occupation, as we know the Melissae were found in Greece and Rome!
BEES AND FAERY GODDESSES ARE LINKED IN THE IMPORTANCE OF THEIR CONNECTION TO NATURE
~This is more of my own connection. As Bees and Faery Folk are both intimately important to the protection of Nature. Bees are absolutely essential to our ecosystem, as we would have little to no food if not for the pollination of Bees. After all, it is not just the plants that need Bees, because even if you eat meat, those animals likely needed the plants pollinated by Bees to nourish them before they became food themselves! We know that the Fae Folk are protectors of Nature in general, so this link is very obvious to me.
YOUNG BEES ARE LITERALLY CALLED NYMPHS (FURTHER LINKING THEM TO FAERY ENERGY)
~This one is more of an etymological link, as the word for Young Bees is Nymph, and we know that Nature Spirits from ancient Greece are also called Nymphs! Beyond that, Nymph is still connected to the idea of fertility today, as we call people who are very sexual nymphomaniacs, and sex and fertility are, of course, linked.
HONEY AND BEES ARE CONNECTED TO MAY QUEEN ENERGY
~Beltane and the energy of the May Queen often features connections to Honey and Bees. Maeve is connected to Honey through her name being associated with the Honey alcohol Mead, and she is a prime example of an Irish May Queen! We even see imagery of Bees on many a Beltane artwork and decoration.
HONEY AND BEES ARE SACRED TO CELTIC VENUSIAN ENERGY
~Finally, Honey and Bees are truly Sacred to the Celtic Venus for all of the reasons I have already listed. But beyond that, Honey and Bees are deeply tied to Venusian energy, more generally speaking, which truly cements just how Sacred Honeybees are and how we can work with their beautiful energy in a Celtic Venusian practice!
