Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For today’s post, I will be discussing films to watch to embrace the energy of the Celtic Venus! Now, I will note that some of these are more obvious for the category of being Celtic Venusian, while others are more modern and not nearly as obvious. I have included all of them because they all fit the vibe of Celtic Venusian Energy!
CAMELOT (1967)
~This first one is very obvious as far as being a Celtic Venusian film. Guenevere is the female lead and has songs about joys of being a Maiden and my favorite song “The Lusty Month of May”! We see the evolution of her relationship with Arthur, as well as her love story with Lancelot, and some great love songs from this iconic musical. It is one of my favorite films to watch when I want to delve into the Celtic Venusian Energy!
TRISTAN + ISOLDE (2006)
~This second one is also very obvious, as it is the love story of the famed Arthurian lovers Tristan and Isolde! This film is really beautiful and truly explores the evolution of the story of Tristan and Isolde. It is such a great retelling of the original legend, and it always makes me feel the Celtic Venus vibes!
EXCALIBUR (1981)
~This third one is the last very obvious one to include on this list. It is the most famous Arthurian film, probably of all time. This John Boorman classic definitely has some Celtic Venusian Energy with Guinevere and Morgan le Fay. However, the film is much more focused on Arthur and the Knights, so we get pretty great Celtic Venusian scenes peppered throughout, but it is not the main focus.
LABYRINTH (1985)
~I could not resist placing this film on the list, as it definitely gives me the vibes of Celtic Venusian Maiden Energy. Sarah’s growth from childhood and into young womanhood definitely gives the energy of coming into your Venusian Energy, but also the film’s Faery-centric nature makes it very much Celtic to me (as the Faeries in the film fit with many Celtic Faery lore staples), which is why I include it here!
THE PRINCESS BRIDE (1987)
~The romance and adventure of this one definitely make it one I wanted to include. What with Buttercup being known to be so beautiful, and the True Love of Westley and Buttercup, combine to make a film that definitely delves into the Celtic Venusian Energy!
A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM (1999)
~This is for the Shakespeare nerd in me. I really adore the 90s film version of this very Faery play. All of the love stories and Faery chaos just scream Celtic Venus Vibes to me! Plus, the actual scenes in the Faery Forest are so very magickal.
SPLASH (1984)
~I could not do a Celtic Venusian film list without one Mermaid film. I adore this classic romantic film about a Mermaid who comes onto land to find the human man she rescued. Yes, there are shades of The Little Mermaid (the original fairytale, as this pre-dates the Disney version), but it largely does its own thing. I love how it portrays the Mermaid as both sexual and very smart (she learned English in a few hours of watching TV)! Finally, the ending also feels very Celtic Venusian to me.
MARIE ANTOINETTE (2006)
~Now, this one is the only film centered on being a biopic or real history, but the fun-loving, beauty-filled, and love-infused energy of this one makes it so Venusian to me. That is why I just had to add this, for those that want a little history in their Celtic Venusian films!
PRACTICAL MAGIC (1998)
~Okay, so this is my favorite film of all time! I have mentioned this fact many times over the years of this blog. While I have many favorite films, this one is my ultimate comfort film, and I watch it many times a year, and that is why I call it my favorite of all time! The fact that all forms of love are explored, as well as beauty, and a connection to nature, combine to form a beautiful example of Celtic Venusian Energy.
THE LOVE WITCH (2016)
~Finally, I decided I had to include a darker version of Celtic Venus energy. I felt this was important, as any energy can be taken to an unhealthy place. This is the story of a Witch who is obsessed with finding love, but she ends up in a toxic relationship after a toxic relationship, and ends up killing her lovers. This is the energy of Venus, love and beauty, and sexuality, taken to a dark and toxic place, and can serve as a warning of how not to work your magick!
~I hope you have enjoyed this look at some films that give off a Celtic Venusian vibe. What other films can you think of that fit this energy? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
