The Divine Feminine and the Female Body

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   Today’s blog post is about how the Divine Feminine can be embodied.    When we think of deeply embodying the Divine Feminine, this can refer to two different things.   It can refer to revering your body as Sacred, or it can refer to being literally embodied by a Goddess during Ritual via full-bodied channeling.  For this post, I will be discussing the former, revering our own Feminine Bodies as Sacred!

How can we treat our own bodies as Sacred?   That is something that many of us struggle with, especially women, as we have grown up with media showing us how our bodies should look and inundating us with very unrealistic beauty standards.   However, this is only the view of the body as physical, focusing on the shape and form of the body (which is beautiful in and of itself, after all, there is a reason the Female Body has inspired artists since time immemorial).

That being said, the body is truly a container for the Soul.    Now, that is where we get to the term ‘My Body is a Temple,’ which is often either mocked or viewed as an example of that person being very into health and fitness.   But I have a different way of viewing this phrase.   The Body being a Temple, to me, means that the body is the container which holds the Soul, the immortal and Divine part of each of us, just as a Temple is where we go to honor the Divine!

So, if we focus on the Soul within us, the fact that we are Souls first and we just have a body to exist in the mortal realm is really the heart of how we can tap into the Sacredness of the body.    With that context in mind, I think it is much easier to begin to truly view our bodies as Sacred and Beautiful!

I want to finish this post with some brief tips on beginning to view your body as Sacred.   Firstly, I think gazing at classical artworks that show the beauty and reverence for the Female Body is a great way to start.   This is especially true of nude artworks, as they show how the Female Body is beautiful in many different shapes, and you can see in depictions of Goddesses of Love that their bodies do not always have flat stomachs and they look like real women.   All of this will serve to put your own body into perspective after years of seeing people with unrealistic bodies in the media!    Second, I think that spending time looking in a Mirror at your own reflection is an important exercise to begin to remember the Sacredness of your own body and your own beauty.   This is a much longer process, as you will likely have to stare at your reflection over the course of several sessions in order to truly look at what is beautiful rather than whatever you may perceive as flaws, but the magick and beauty comes in when you can look past the things you would change and instead focus on how your body is beautiful!    Thirdly, I suggest self-love rituals, such as bath rituals, to soothe your mind and promote love for your body.   Finally, I will simply say that more sensual forms of magick or ritual (especially with a willing partner) or even just sex in general with someone you truly love is an amazing way to acknowledge how Sacred your body is!

I hope you have enjoyed reading my ruminations on how we can connect to the Divine Feminine by learning to view the Female Body as Sacred.    Do you see your body as Sacred?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
