Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. Today’s blog post is a very exciting special announcement, as I have gotten published again! Those of you who have been reading my blog for some time may remember that I got published in the Journal of Medicinal Plant Conservation last year, that time it was my Centuary Monograph. This time, I have been published by Voices From the Grove, which is an annual Journal published and edited by Yuri Leitch, featuring submissions from his The Ogham Grove Facebook Group, which I have been a member of for quite some time! Specifically, this year’s edition is Voices From the Grove: The Call of the Rose Queen and the Quest for One’s Heart’s Desire: Dedicated to the Queen of May and the Hawthorn Tree, which is the sixth annual volume (each volume features one of the Ogham Trees).
Clearly, from the title, you will see why I was attracted to submitting for this particular volume, with it being focused on a Tree I have a deep relationship with and the May Queen! I was beyond thrilled when I saw the announcement go live that he was accepting submissions (especially with this year’s theme). I just knew I had to write something to submit! So, I spent some time working on a poem about my deep relationship with and love for the May Queen. I went on to submit the poem for the Journal, and was so glad to have received an email back quickly to let me know my submission was received (as often you only hear back way later with a yes or no). Of course, I was even more thrilled to receive another email some weeks ago letting me know that my poem was being used in the Journal!
Now, you may wonder why I have waited to announce this publicly. I waited because I tend to be very superstitious and do not like announcing things until there is absolutely something to announce! That being said, I am so grateful to Yuri Leitch for creating his The Ogham Grove Facebook Group, and his wonderful YouTube Channel, and most especially for publishing me! If you are interested in reading my poem, which was written exclusively for this Journal (and is not available on this blog), along with all the other wonderful contributions this year, I will link the Amazon listing for the Journal. I will also link the Facebook Group and YouTube for The Ogham Grove below!
I hope you have enjoyed this reflection on getting published in this wonderful Journal. What exciting things do you have going on this Beltane Season? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
