Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. Today’s Tarot Thursday blog post is about the Sun and the Empress Tarot Archetypes as combining together to represent Divine Feminine Solar Energy! I have had both of these cards appearing a lot for me as of lately. The appearance of the Empress in my own readings is not uncommon, as I am very connected with the Empress energy and archetype. Likewise, the Sun card does appear quite a bit in my own readings.
However, the Sun and the Empress have been appearing together in my readings now. When I first had the two cards appear side-by-side in a reading, it clicked for me that the two archetypes in conjunction are representative of the Solar Faery Queens! That is why I knew I wanted to write about this today, as it is a very powerful alignment for me. This connection between the Sun and the Empress is also representative of the alignment between the Sun and Venus, which I have been working with a lot lately. There are several Solar Faery Queens in Celtic lore, and many are also Faery Queens who made a marriage to the King on behalf of the Land to bless his rulership of the Kingdom. This aspect of Faery Queens as representatives of the Land who marry the King to bless the King with Sovereignty is something that I have always deeply associated with the Empress card!
The Sun is the warmth and nurturance of the natural world, seeding new life and aiding in the growth of plants. Venus is the planet of Love, Pleasure, and Romance, which obviously links the energy of Venus with fertility, which the Sun is also linked with. Moreover, the Empress is deeply linked to Venus, with the symbol for the planet Venus very often appearing in the imagery of the Empress card! All of this serves to tell me that having the Sun card appear with the Empress card in my readings is truly a message from the Celtic Venusian Faery Queens, who are also Solar Goddesses.
