Movies to Watch When You Want to Feel Like a Forest Faery

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.    Today’s blog post is another list of film recommendations to make you feel a certain vibe.   In this case, I will be giving you a list of movies to watch when you want to feel like you are a Forest Faery!   Without further ado, let’s look at nine films that fit this vibe.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM (1999) or (1935)

~Starting off strong, one of the first stories I think of when I want to feel like a Forest Faery is this Shakespeare classic, which is my favorite Shakespeare work (likely to no one’s surprise).   In the case of this list, I am leaving it up to you which version you watch, but I highly recommend either the 1999 version with Michelle Pfeiffer as Titania or the 1935 classic, which has the Medellsohn music!   Both are enchanting journeys into the Faery Forest where two sets of lovers are the subject of unwanted Faery Enchantments.

FERNGULLY: THE LAST RAINFOREST (1992)

~This utterly adorable animated film is a true classic for many of us who have grown up to be proud Tree-Huggers!   It is a story of Enchanted Beings trying to save their Rainforest home from an evil logging company.

SLEEPING BEAUTY (1959)

~I could not make this list without including this Disney classic.    The scenes of Aurora dancing and singing in utter joy in the Woodland are some of my favorites!   It gives off a truly joyous feeling and love of the Forest.

MALEFICENT (2014)

~Of course, if you want a live-action film, Maleficent is one of the few live-action Disney remakes I love.   This one is not a simple rehash of the original animated film, as it is told from the villain’s perspective.   There are plenty of lovely Woodland scenes and plenty of Faery adoration of Nature!

LEGEND (1985)

~Most of us watch this one for Tim Curry as Darkness, and that is definitely my main reason for watching this one, too!   However, there are some really sweet sequences in the Forest with the Unicorn, which is why it makes this list.

THE NEVERENDING STORY (1984)

~This is a very magical story with an Enchanted book.   However, there are plenty of gorgeous outdoor scenes once the boy has entered the book.   I do want to note, this one is a tearjerker in many ways, so do not be surprised if this one makes you cry!

THE DARK CRYSTAL (1982)

~The Dark Crystal is a Jim Henson fantasy favorite, with Fae Creatures designed by the great Faery artist Brian Froud!    Yes, this one is famously all puppets, so some people have a hard time with it because of the uncanny valley energy, but if that does not bother you, it is a truly delightful journey into an Enchanted Faeryscape of Adventures!

CAMELOT (1967)

~This enchanting musical film, based on a Broadway show, is one that I adore deeply!    There are multiple outdoor scenes in the Forest, most particularly of Guinevere going-a-Maying and enjoying the beauty of Nature in Springtime.   That is what gets this film a place on this list!

THE MISTS OF AVALON (2001)

~I just had to include this film adaptation of the novel.   While this mini-series is not as good as the novel, it is a beautiful film with so many outdoor scenes.   Morgaine in Avalon practicing the Priestess arts are some of the most breathtaking scenes in the entire film, and definitely will make you feel like a Forest Faery!

~I hope you have enjoyed this list of films to Feel Like a Forest Faery.   What other films make you feel like a Forest Faery?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
