Sacred Objects to the Goddess Melusine

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   Today’s Siren Saturday post is a look at some of the Sacred Objects to Melusine!   Now, this post is going to specifically be about things that are Sacred to Melusine as found in her legend, instead of incorporating things that are Sacred to Melusine due to my own work with her (as I will be teaching more in-depth in my class)!

MAGICKAL RINGS

~In the story of Melusine, she is described as giving Magickal Rings both to her future husband Raymond when she instructs him on how to gain Lands in his name, and later to her sons to bless them when they go on Quests!   Magickal Rings are found in many Faery stories since time immemorial, and Melusine is part of this important lineage.   Her rings bless the men whom she loves with wealth, protection, victory, and healing!

THE FOUNTAIN OF THIRST

~This is the Fountain in the Forest that Melusine tends when she is punished by her mother, and it is also the place where she meets Raymond.   It is a Magickal Well, for which Melusine is a Sacred Guardian!   The tending of this powerful portal, as waters are almost always portals to Faeryland in Celtic tradition, shows Melusine’s nature as a Protectress of Faery Magick!

AVALON

~Obviously, Avalon is a Sacred Place to Melusine.   It is in Avalon that she and her sisters are raised by their mother, and it is to Avalon that Melusine returns after the betrayal of Raymond!   Avalon is the Sacred Isle of Apples, a Mystical Faeryland that is both a Land of the Dead and one of Life Eternal.   Avalon’s nature as an Otherworldly Paradise and Land of Faery Enchantment, inhabited by Faery Priestesses and Goddesses, makes it the ideal home of all of my beloved Faery Queens whom I Priestess to!

FELLOW FAERIES OF THE FOUNTAIN

~Melusine is not the only Faery tending the Fountain of Thrist; as in most tellings, she is one of three.   It is clear that she is the chief Lady of the Fountain, with the other two as her Handmaidens.   For this reason, she is a protectress of her fellow Fountain Faeries!

BUILDER FAERIES (FAERY AIDS)

~Similarly, in most tellings, Melusine has Faery Men who act as Footmen and Builders, aiding in her endeavors to create all of her famed Castles and Churches.   They are also under her protection, just like the Fountain Faeries!

CASTLE OF LUSIGNAN

~This is the Castle that Melusine builds (again, it is implied that it is built with magick and the aid of her other Faeries).   But it is Melusine who is the architect and patroness of its construction, giving her the nickname of ‘The Builder Faery’!   The Castle itself is therefore a Sacred location in Melusine’s legend.

TOWN OF LUSIGNAN

~In fact, she is credited with building the Town of Lusignan as a whole, so we can also call the whole Town Sacred to her legend!

BATH HOUSE

~The Bath House is a more specific Sacred Site, much like the Fountain.   Actually, there would be various Bath Houses at each residence she built.   The Bath House is the place where she spends her Saturdays in her Mermaid form!   That makes this one place where Melusine can be her most true Faery Queen Goddess self!

SERPENTS

~As Melusine’s Mermaid aspect is most often (in the old legends) described as Serpentine in nature, Serpents are Sacred to her!   This relates to her Fertile, Sexual, and Divine Feminine energy nicely.   Serpents are intimately connected to Kundalini energy, the Serpent at the base of the spine that makes its way through the Chakra system in yogic philosophy, causing amazing insight during Kundalini Awakening!   This also means the Serpent relates to Melusine in her psychic nature.

DRAGONS

~As Melusine flies away from Lusignan in Dragon form, it is clear that Dragons are sacred to her!   The power and majesty of these fierce and beautiful creatures are amplified with Divine Feminine Magick in Melusine’s legend!

MERMAIDS

~Finally, probably most obvious, Mermaids, in general, are going to be Sacred to this Watery Faery Queen Goddess, as she spends every Saturday as a Mermaid!
