Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. Today’s Tarot Tuesday post is about how the Empress can be viewed as the Tarot Archetype of the coming of Spring! The Empress is the harbinger of Abundance, Fertility, Prosperity, and Blessings of the Land Made Manifest.
I have always viewed the Empress Archetype as being firmly entwined with the concept of the Faery Queen who makes a marriage to the King on behalf of the Land. These Faery Queens are Sovereignty Goddesses bestowing the Blessings of the Land upon a King, just as the Empress bestows the Blessings of the Land upon the Emperor in the Tarot!
Now, how does this specifically relate to Spring? Well, the Blessings of the Land with the blooming of plants and abundance being returned to the Land all begin in Spring! So, in many ways, the young Empress who is the Flower Bride just making her marriage to the King and becoming a Queen who will nurture and nourish the Land with countless blessings is also a very much Spring Goddess energy.
As Mother Earth is awakening from her Winter slumber, the Empress, when we relate her to a Flower Bride Faery Queen Goddess, is nurturing the soon-to-be prosperous seeds that have been planted with intention. That makes this time a very potent one to be working with the energy of the Empress, we can meditate with the Empress Archetype as we plant seeds of intention moving forward into Spring. This also makes the Empress a great Tarot Archetype to work with to allow us to hopefully bring all of the Blessings and Intentions we are setting to come into fruition! After all, the Empress is also the Queen in all her many forms, meaning that she will flow from being the Flower Bride to being the High Queen (in Summer and Autumn) and even the Dowager Queen (in Winter). The Empress can aid us in planting these seeds and later go on to aid us in harvesting the fruits of our labors!
I hope you have enjoyed this short look at how the Empress Archetype is an ideal Tarot Archetype to work with for Spring Intention setting. What seeds will you plant in hopes of growing into fruition during the Summer to harvest in the Autumn? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
